Adjustable Knox Stock on a Maverick 88
I've got a 12 gauge Maverick 88 with a standard stock (14"). It's a bit long for my 5'3 wife. I'm thinking of getting an adjustable knox stock. I've seen 2 types, the more expensive version has springs in it I believe for kick reduction. I went to A&P gunshop and was talking to a clerk there he suggested that the adjustable stocks were not reliable, that they couldn't take the force. I was looking for other's opinions on the adjustable knox stock and other options that I haven't thought of.

I have the recoil reducer stock. That guy you talked to is full of beans. Get the recoil reducing stock, your wife will thank me and so will your shoulder.

yeah I thought he was full of it when i talked to him. He seemed more intrested on selling high priced guns than anything else. He told me i should get a remington cause thats what all the police forces around use (I really don't care what they use).

Just FYI, the safety on the Mossberg isn't in the best location for a pistol grip stock.

The safety is on top of the receiver. Your shooting hand is way below the receiver. You'll have to take your hand off of the grip to turn the safety off.

The Maverick is different than the mossberg. The Maverick has a push button trigger safety in front of the trigger

I've have one on my 590a1 for several years and it's shown no signs of unreliability. I do have issues with cheek slap with hot loads.... I might need to get a spacer as the angle of the stock is slightly off.

I know this is late, but don't mount your 590 like a bird gun, get a good cheek weld.bryanrheem wrote:I've have one on my 590a1 for several years and it's shown no signs of unreliability.
