So much for the degate about whether we have a republic, a democracy or a relatively gentle autocracy. What we have evolved whatever we HAD into is clearly an ineptocracy.

Hmm. Indeed.

My ideal Senate:
Appoint one farmer and one blue collar worker from each senate district to serve a 4 year term. One 4 year term. Then back to the farm/factory.
My ideal house:
Elect by majority vote one rep from each non-gerrymandered congressional district. Lawyers, professional students, college professors, community organizers are all barred from running for office. Each candidate gets public funds only, of exactly the same amount. 4 years and out. Done.

Each and every federal law, action, edict, action is either accepted or rejected by the state. If a state govt does not agree with it, it doesnt apply to that state.

Naive and full of holes, I know. But I've maintained for years that the people that should be representing us in office are too smart, or have too much personal honor and integrity to prostitute themselves to the current electoral system.

Allow all politicians only to accept money from those in their districts, and term limits.

After many years of being in or associated with the government it is my experience that things thought to be worthy of conspiracy theories are just more ineptness, waste, and/or ignorance.

That's why less is better.

Can't recall where I heard it, but, "In a democracy you get the leaders you deserve".

Sounds about right. Though, we're a weird hybrid of kleptoineptonepotisticocracy IMO.
