It's always hard to find a good gunsmith in NoVA. Garrett in Newington is good, but very pricey and long lead times. Anyway on a recommendation from a coworker I took my XDm to Sam (Hatfield?) to put on a fiber optic front sight and extended mag release. He did a good job, the price was reasonable ($35) and it was finished the same day. They are doing custom builds, modifications and finishes, you name it. Strong recommendation.

Very cool staff.. the dog there "Woody" is a big time crotch sniffer, so look out. Ive been there a couple of times, but they never had what I was lookin for, they buy their dog food at my shop in manassas, so I try to send them business when I can. they are quite knowledgeable, and very quick to offer suggestions or other routes.

The very thought of a big unknown dog doing that makes me freeze dead in my tracks - same thing when they actually do it. I hate that.
