Sometimes I just can't resist a pistol I don't need.

This is one of those times. Can't decide if it's weaponry or jewelry. Purdy, ain't it?

Nah............ It's only a 9mm. Nothing but a .45ACP is righteous enough for a Sunday.

Not too good a picture, but every bit as purdy as the 9mm WITH SOME GRAVITAS!

Congrats! Until mass manufacturing, firearms were family heirlooms and works of art. Some of those old firearms are amazing! I actually like to see and own firearms that are functional and art. I'm not a big fan of firearm art that will never be used though. Enjoy your purchase.

Nice addition there!! I just picked up a CZ 75 B and ordered some custom ironwood grips for it.... but I can say it's certainly not going to be near the BBQ gun that one is!!!

I'm old enough to think a gun ought to look good, and that to do that it ought to have some wood and workmanship on it. And I've been acquiring guns long enough that I can afford to occasionally buy one just to look at. I don't have enough time and can't buy enough bullets to shoot them all anyway. But the CZ will get fired at least once, (probably in about an hour or so). I might fire the George S Patton 1911, and I might not. I haven't yet. It's just a basic 1911A1 with no frills except a little engraving and some nickel plating, so I've got plently of other 1911s that I'd rather shoot. When it comes to acquiring guns, I've got no hard-and-fast rules (except to do so legally). Some I buy just to collect (including a few of those "black" ugly ones I used to sneer at and refuse to pay money for), and some I buy to shoot. There are a few I use regularly to hunt. As an old friend of mine used to say to close discussions about weighty decisions: "Whatever makes your nipples hard............."

You're confusing me. What is this "need" thing of which you speak?

I'll admit this applies more in theory than in practice, but here goes:

If its a 1911 or any other firearm on my active wish list, I NEED it.
(This means I'll probably pine away to nothing unless I get it RIGHT NOW.)
If it's almost any other firearm, I WANT it.
(This means I won't pine away without it, but I'm liable to buy it anyway.)

Of course, the male of the species is widely criticized among the females of the same for not knowing (or at least ignoring) the difference between the two. Just ask any of them.
