They need to elaborate a little on that document, in my opinion, to really bring home the nature of the problem. The "money the family spent" needs to be broken down into "paid for other folks not to work" (welfare & unemployment), “paid for other people’s health care” (cost of medicare and the lavish federal benefits), and the other significant entitlements. Might want to include “paid for self-defense” to cover the defense budget just for balance.

I guess you are not aware that the largest piece (except in Census years) of the Commerce Dept is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, without which you wouldn't have weather forecasts, fisheries controls, nautical charts, or satellite monitoring. But, maybe you don't personally want those, even though others might. What's a person to do? Shut it all down because you don't want it, or pay the $0.04 per person per day cost of NOAA so you can use it and others can too?

NOAA is notorious for pork barrel spending. Fisheries control is laughtable at best regarding them. They do serve a purouse but the waste factor is quite high

Humans are very very very bad at understanding large numbers..was never a need for them when we were evolving and even for most of human history. This is why no one ever seems to take the what, $15 trillion debt seriously? We can't really comprehend it.

Take a look at the appropriation bills regarding noaa. There are all the examples one would need ....

I'm not sure NOAA should be solely blamed for what Congress tells it to do.....there are many pieces of pork in there, but that comes from Congress. If you want to be enlightened (read: depressed), look at the difference each year between their budget request and their appropriations bill.....

NOAA is a straw man argument.

Fund it on it's own and kill commerce!!!!
