I've been looking for some of those rectangular pistol bags like Ed Brown puts its guns in (and Les Baer used to, but the last one I got from them came in a cardboard box). That way I could keep the paperwork and hardware that comes with a pistol with the gun without fooling with that big cumbersome hard plastic clamshell case, and it would be a lot handier to just drop up to a dozen or so pistols into one of my big rolling cases (like the leather salesman's sample cases) when I go to the range. The hard cases just take up too much room. I can find some high-end ones in the $24-$45 range, but that's too many shekels. I saw some on e-bay for about $10, but I don't do e-bay, I don't do paypal, and they only had 3 or 4. I'd like to have a few dozen. Anybody got a connection?

Actually, it is more bag than I was looking for, but the price is right. How thick is the bag with nothing in it?

It folds down pretty flat if you don't use the magazine pouches or the two side pockets not shown in the picture. I have two of them and use them as stage bags for competition matches. They are a very good buy for the price in my opinion.

Generic term. I did lots of nice cases on Amazon from that search.

Walmart, around $10 a pop. Comes in black and sand. Pocket for gun and 4 pockets for mags

Here's one with a p220 for size reference

On the Amazon link posted earlier, there is a UTG gun case about 4 or 5 items down. Those are very nice and I use them the way you mentioned, two or three in a larger bag, or individually. What is not shown is that they are nicely lined, they have two large pockets for pistols and 6 internal mag pockets large enough for double stack mags. They carry most pistols easily, and will carry a couple of 1911's snugly, but they won't QUITE close on some larger frame revolvers. They are made of heavy cordura, have one large external pocket, and the double-pull zipper goes around the bottom corners so the bag will lay flat when opened up. There are two sizes, the basic and the deluxe. My favorite is the deluxe, and they have worn well for years.

Nighthawk Custom's bag is similar to Ed Brown's and is available through their online store.
