Just got back from AAFES and back in their sporting goods section they put in a new display area and are set up to sale guns. They have already increased their shooting supply inventory (scopes, cleaning gear, & other accessories) and there is a sign that says its going to open in Feb. I eagerly await the the opening.

Let me know how it turns out, and how the weapon prices are. I'm on the Army side of the house, but will take a trip if its worth it.

Ok, went by the Langley gun shop. they were busy as hell so I didn't have anytime to talk to the clerks. There were 2 there that seemed to know what they were talking about. I overheard them talking to customers. The prices were reasonable and they displayed the amount you save by not paying the tax. Also they had a nice variety of handguns displayed and 2 revolving racks of long guns. I was pretty impressed. I'll check it out again sometime when it's not so crowded.
If there is anything in particular anyone would like priced, feel free to ask me. I live close to Langley and go to the commissary often so stopping by the BX is no problem.

The Tax Man might not think that such a good idea...oops, you were just checking prices for others. I replied too fast and read too slow.

Yes, I'm just willing to check prices. That's all. Maybe if I was younger a dumber I'd be willing to do more, but even then I wouldn't post it on a forum.

Just as a comparison point, a neighbor told me the LAFB Exchange had Ruger LCP's for $229 and, of course, no tax.

anyone have experience with firearms purchases from Langley? Any requirement for off post purchasers to register on base, or just purchase and expedite to the gate? May have to check out after the Hampton fun show tomorrow!

I was talking to one of the clerks before they openend and he said you just have to expidite to the gate. Your best bet is to talk to them in person to get the straight scoop.

Stopped by after the Hampton Toy Show...BLUF...LAFB BX firearms counter ...2 clerks...jammed packed...couple purchasing his and hers Glocks...number of folks awaiting VSP call in...signs stated delays with call in, and no, we will not price match pawn shops....good selection...SOCOM, M1a standard, Sig, even a Colt .22. Overall, a good sign!

Unless you have plenty of expendable cash, shop elsewhere. AAFES pricing at work...example, plan Walnut Springfield M1a, $1661...Buds police supply...$1440. No thanks AAFES. Gal clerk said AAFES will only match in store prices within 50 miles of Langley.

Seems odd purchasing glocks there as well, since all MIL qualify to purchase under the Blue Label program at authorized GLOCK LE dealers. ie. Glock 17, 19, 26 = $398. I highly doubt AAFES is matching that price.
Smith and Wesson does the same thing. M&P 9 = $398

When I went into the Exchange the other day on the Army base here, I saw an advertisement in their fliers with 10% off of S&W's, some .22 LR's, and something else... I want to say revolvers. If any of ya are near the AFB and have access to the base I'd go check it out.

As long as you offered:
Do they have/carry Smith & Wesson Sigma 9MM Model S&W SD9 VE
SD9™ 9MM Magazine 10RD
and ammo for it?
Much thanks

I guess there is no need Skeeterss0
Called them and unless I own property (i.e. residence) in Virginia, they cannot sell me a fire arm even if they had it.
And they don't have 9mm ammo or magazines for that firearm.
I do, however appreciate the very gracious offer.
s&w says it will be fall this year before they project that firearm to be available, but who knows about ammo? Sure will make a splendid paperweight.

I did swing by last night they had a SD 9 and sd 40 displayed. the 9 was $351. and like you said no 9mm ammo or mags. The guy behind the counter said they had just got the 2 SD's in.
