Hello,

Just joined up! My friend suggested perusing this site after i purchased a Rock Island 1911 on 1/21 (I just got it today. talk about "instant" background checks)

That's it for my gun collection. This is my first gun, so i'll be asking a lot of basic questions, and taking a Concealed Carry class soon, if anything more for the info than the permit.

Anyway... Hello!

Thanks for the warm welcome all! And yes Admiral, the nickel plated RIAs are nice, just not fo' me. Also, i took the gun to the range for the first time, and aside from two FTF's (one of which caused me to hit the cieling downrange...oops!) it performed like a champ.

Then, i took it apart.

And now i'm screwed.

I'm really into tinkering with things, and after disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling this gun i'm in deep (financial) trouble. Now that it's clean (and i mean CLEAN), a bit better oiled, and broken in a bit, it's even MORE of a joy to operate. It figures that the Engineer in me likes CLEANING the thing almost as much as USING it.

Oh, and Proshooter: I might take you up on that CHP class, especially since you're more than local -- you're next door!
