I'm looking at purchasing a 4 inch 1911 for concealed carry in the next month or so. Does anyone here have any experience with the Rock Island model? I'm looking at a Springfield Champion as well and was wondering if the additional price it worth it is it mostly just the cost of getting a bigger name brand?

Heard RIAs are really good. I think the add expense of the Springfield is the name.

Save the money, buy more ammo. I've had the 5" RIA Tactical for almost a year and it shoots great. Try and find someone with the RIA in the style your looking for and give it a try.

True story. I really like the 5" RIA. I like it so much I talked my buddy into buying one before me! Lol but when I get my 5" RIA it will be the nickel plated one and I'll get mother of pearl grips!

Look at the 5", it will handle the recoil of the 45 a little better than the 4" imo.

Fit and finish on the Springfield will be better. Both will work and shoot great, but the Springfield will be of generally higher quality. I've examined both brands, there is a difference. But you'll be happy with either.

I happen to have one of these pimp guns. I ditched the wood grips and put new, black grips on her. The sights are atrocious in the daylight, they're okay at an indoor range. I thought about getting some pearl grips, but neither the front nor back of the grip are checkered so she's pretty slippery. $460 OTD from DK Arms. He hits the gun shows.
