I've heard a lot about the Utah Concealed Carry permit. I guess it's the most widely accepted throughout the United States? Do they have reciprocity with a bunch of other states or what? Someone please tell me why I should get a Utah CC permit.

As the only company in the Richmond area that offers the Utah class, I can say that its a great permit to have. We do a monthly Utah class right here in Richmond at Bass Pro.

So, if I have a Virginia permit (I do) and I get a Utah permit... Do the agreements that these two permits represent mean that I can cross state lines with virtually the same concealed weapons guidelines across those states? I'd like to see this laid out on a map with green states and red states so that I know which state lines are "safe" to cross.

If you travel, you need to follow the laws of the state you are traveling through....just like driving.

picking up vermont isn't a big deal. anyone who's of age, not intoxicated, and isn't prohibited from having firearms can conceal in vermont. you don't even need to have identification on you, resident of that state or not. in alaska at least you needt o have a government-issued ID on you when you conceal
i hear you can do the whole thing on the net, just like taking the virginia concealed class online these days by watching an online video, then doing some questions. i mean i'd take a class if i were interested and someone was teaching it locally, but for those not living in the richmond area, something online would be good, if such a class exists for the utah permit. i know you never actually have to go to utah, it can be done in the mail.

Are we saying get a Utah permit in addition to Virginia, or instead of Virginia?
I am also curious if I had the Utah permit, and was pulled for a routine stop on the highway in Virginia as a Virginia resident, would the fact I was a Utah CC permit holder show up on the first page of the information system LE officers use in their cars like it does currently if I had a VA CCW permit?
Is the Utah class at Bass Pro a 5 hour class? Any prerequisites to take the class.

I think we're saying to get the Utah in addition to your Virginia permit.
I would guess that a Utah permit will not show up if you got pulled over since the VSP has no record of a Utah permit - they only track VA permits. That's all speculative though, certainly not cited by any specific source.
I believe you can get your Utah permit from member ProShooters here on the board.

You forgot one thing....some of the states you have listed honor Utah, but only for Utah residents. Some states out there do not honor non-resident permits.

So I count 35 states you can carry in with the VA and UT permits (if all listed UT states accept non-resident UT permit)
Not bad

General:
Does it appear that UT is going to require in-person application in UT in the near future?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I don't keep track of Utah legislation. However, I think that since you would be applying for a "Non-resident" Utah CC permit - I can't imagine that in-person application would be required.
