The biggest opponent, bar none to lobby against Sunday Hunting in the state is the Farm Bureau. Go figure.
They just released a video on You tube explaining their position.
You might want to go there and dislike it.

Ugh... do I need to shop for new insurance now?
Sunday hunting's purpose isn't solely to bring the deer population down, in fact I doubt the harvest statistics will raise by 15%, MAYBE 5-10% since its only going to be allowed on PRIVATE property. Its to allow people who work all week, and/or come in from out of town, to have two freaking days to hunt! And... I don't know too many people who hunt so close to a church that the few and far between shots heard throughout a day would disrupt any services.
This video surprised me.

Well if you want to chat with them follow the bills and when one on sunday hunting comes up they always show up in Richmond lobbying against Sunday Hunting. They truly are the force in the state pushing against.

One did, and it passed, and I'm happy. I'm just shocked that the "producer members" (not me, I just have homeowner's insurance through them) voted in such a way that Farm Bureau's official stance is against Sunday hunting. Where I live, the farmers want nothing more than ALL DEER TO DIE on their property.

That's really all the reason that should be needed. There are too damn many deer in this state, we should be slaughtering them wholesale.
Farm Bureau, of all businesses, should be in favor of culling the crap out of the deer population. Or do they like paying out on all those deer-versus-automobile claims? And do actual farmers file claims for crop damage inflicted by the marauding deer herds? Very unusual for a company to act contrary to their financial interests.

Yeah it's really confusing why they take the position they do. What gets me is they support damage stamps and there are farmers here that pile them up like cordwood. All going to waste. All "legal and proper". Something smells fishy and they are putting a smoke and mirrors twist on this. There is money somewhere. Dang if I can figure out where it is though.
All I do know is they are and have been very active in trying to prevent it. They go out of their way to Lobby against it.

I'm sure "following the money" would reveal what's going on, but I have no idea how to go about doing that (nor much interest in doing so, since I have no relationship with Farm Bureau and don't hunt).

To be honest if I was able to hunt on Sunday I would not get anything done around the house. I personally am glad that this will not pass this year. As for there being too many deer, the area's that they are over populated.... we cant hunt anyway. Kinda negates my county giving me unlimited doe days thru the whole season.

you won't have to worry about sunday hunting, at least for another ga session. the bill was essentially killed in the house acnr natural resources subcommittee yesterday. kinda like the senate coj death star subcommittee of years past.
