Range Memberships

Post by gdvc »

Hi All-

I'm new to this forum and shooting in the NoVA area (glad I found this). I was just looking for some information on the best range for pure shooting in the NoVA area or around Haymarket. I just went to SEG and Sharpshooters over the weekend...I didn't enjoy sharpshooters at all. SEG was nice and pretty spacious on top of that. My wife even enjoyed the experience!! At this point I'm leaning toward SEG as I can get the 100 intial fee wavied, but I have yet to try BRA and I'm just looking for a little feedback on BRA and if a membership at either of these places is worth it...

I shoot about 2-3 times a week for personal enjoyment, my 10 year old son (shoots a .22) and my wife (also shoots a .22) come with about once a week.

Thanks ahead of time!

SEG and the NRA Range are clearly the nicest in NOVA. Also, they are the only ones that are 50 yards. The downside is that they don't have the 7-days a week, long operating hours of either Sharpshooters or BRA. How far you have to drive and traffic patterns may also be worth consideration. BRA has a really good annual membership deal for old folks that are at least 62. BRA also has members only time slots from 8 AM to 10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday - I often take advantage of these if I'm shooting on the weekend as there is very seldom a wait and the probability of being shot is lower.
Competition is one of the "great levelers" of ego.

I've heard that the guy who was a part of re-vamping the NRA Range has left and is looking to do his on facility no too far away. All I know but may be another option for you at some point. Establishing an indoor range from scratch is different from "remodeling" an existing facility, time will tell.

Thanks,

Another option would be Range 82. I too am looking for a range to attend weekly. I have been to BRA and I did enjoy shooting there. Everyone I spoke to seemed knowledgeable and friendly. The lanes had decent space & digital target readers. I still want to compare a few other places. For me location matters as much as price. I will be making my way on monday to Range 82. I will let you know what I think of it then.

Heres a link to the BRA review I did. I put pricing in as well. Hope it helps

I invite everyone to come to the range with me. It's as simple as letting me know what day you want to meet up.
