I received the tax stamp for my Gemtech Multimount suppressor last week and today I picked up a threaded barrel and adapter so I can mount it on my SIG P229. This thing is nice and quiet with the Sellier & Bellot 140 gr subsonic ammo.

How does it affect your aim? It looks like it would throw the balance off quite a bit.

The suppressor adds some weight, about 7 oz., but it isn't that bad. I actually shot a little bit better with the suppressor on. I don't know whether it's the extra weight helping keep the muzzle down or whether I was just concentrating more with the suppressor mounted. Or maybe the fact that I wasn't anticipating the loud bang as much helped.

The only problem I had -- a minor one -- is that the suppressor's diameter is a tad too big and obscures the site picture.

awesome pictures! I have also found that shooting with a can forces me to improve my grip and concentration. Have you run it wet yet? When are you going to the range again? We need to meet up!

You need to add taller sights, then you'll be set.

Meh, taller sights are usually overrated. A little practice and you can aim through the can; then you're not stuck with huge sights when using the pistol without the can.

Agreed. I just need to practice shooting with both eyes open and I can aim through the suppressor. I have no problems shooting my rifle with both eyes open but for some reason I can't do it with my pistols. I need to learn to do it.

Nice shooting! Now I gotta ask: are you using the stock sights or did you replace them with taller ones? Also, what's your favorite subsonic ammo for the SIG P229?

I have both normal and tall sights. I have a silver slide with tall sights, which is in the video above (Adjustable LPA sights: http://www.lpasights.com/catalog2.html I bought mine from Top Gun Supply)
I have the original black slide with the normal night sights on them. I picked up an extra slide from CDNN a long time ago.

I have problems shooting pistols with both eyes open. I don't have a dominant eye, so I see two ghost sights no matter what I do, so I have to close an eye. That said, I can still target shoot with the short sights and an eye closed. You don't get a great sight picture, but you can get pretty good and consistent with it.

I shoot my own reloads mostly. Before I started loading my own ammo, I shot a lot of Georgia Arms canned heat. Any 9mm 147gr ammo will be subsonic. If you want quiet, avoid "self defense" ammo. Winchester has a nice selection of 147gr ammo. 158gr ammo (if you can find it) is pretty quiet as well.

I do a lot of practice at home aiming with both eyes open. I was taught that it's just a comfort level and am getting better at it. Obviously it's biggest benefit is situational awareness.

Do it! Both Virginia Arms and Loudon Guns have them in stock. They're factory Sig Sauer threaded barrels so they're threaded M13.5 x 1 LH. I'm not sure what the thread pattern on your Osprey is so it might not fit.

haha, my p229 is threaded in .40 S&W so I don't know if they have those in stock. I might have to go with a custom Bar-sto barrel threaded in .5x28. I have 3 pistons for my Osprey anyway: 16x1LH, 13.5x1LH and .5x28.

I heard that VA Arms might have a S&W 625-revolver that I've been wanting so I might make a trip out there soon.

The Sig in my video is a P229 40S&W with a Barsto 9mm conversion barrel in 1/2x28.
