Just a heads up, Fiskars has a full line of axes, and other accoutroments at Sears. If you like the GERBER stuff? You can get it in FISKARS for LESS!

I have a fiskars wood chopping axe (got it off amazon though), its really good and the weight is where it belongs; the axehead. The handle is injection molded and wraps around the axehead so it wont come off.

Can usually split a log in one shot with it if my aims right.

Invest in a dedicated axe sharpener through, worth the extra ten bucks.

Yup! I picked up one when I got the axe, and it's a BLESSING! Three good strokes, and the axe blade is back to sharp! The only thing that I have issues with is the plastic cover, I made a leather one, but that plastic one just doesn't hold up.

Gerber owns fiskar's IRCC.

I thought it was reversed? Fiskars bought Gerber? I know the Fiskars are 10-20% less than Gerber.

Well I guess I didn't recall correctly! I'm kinda thinking about one of the axes. The one I was using just broke a handle and it's an oddly long head that won't fit anything I can find.

Well Jake! I suggest you peruse your local Sears in the gardening section! You'd find a fine selection of axes by Fiskar in a variety of shapes and sizes!

After I saw the History Channel special where they drove a truck of the handle as it laid on a tree, and it bent, and popped back fine? I decided that's the axe for me!

Fiskars! When trees pee themselves at the mention of my name!

fiskar makes good axes. I do love my long handled estwing hatchet though

I love 'em too Kat... till I had to pack one all over the back hills. That's when I started researching the Gerber/Fiskars ones.

Estwing has the weight to do the work! Makes easy time of splitting/chopping, but that danged steel neck just makes it heavy for a "Carry". I'd keep one in a BOV (Bug Out Vehicle)...when I get one.
