Open Carry Holster

Post by SHMIV »

Ok, so I've decided to make a habit of openly carrying, but it is winter, and my jacket would conceal my gun (illegally, in my case). So, I figured that a drop-leg styled holster would solve that. Problem is, 1) I don't really want a tactical looking holster, and 2) I can't seem to find one for a revolver with a 6.5 inch barrel.

My other reason for wanting that style holster is that if I keep the holster on my belt, my hand is in my armpit by the time the gun clears the holster.

I find that putting the holster in the "cross draw" position makes for an easier draw, and that works fine if I skip the jacket, but it is getting too cold for all that.

Are there any affordable, non-tactical-looking, drop-leg holsters in existence?

Well, then, I reckon I'll have to give my current holster to my Mom... she likes a good sewing project. I'll see if we can't get a holster design that works well. I figure that if she can make me an Elvis jumpsuit, she can modify a holster, lol.

I'm kinda surprised that only 2 people are interested in such a thing, though.

how about making the nylon webbing that attaches to the belt shorter? but thatd lead to no pocket access and how to secure the bottom to your leg without it looking odd? SHMIV if you can come up with something rebuild it from scratch and patent that sucker!

Look into the jacket slot mount for the Serpa Holster. Fairly sure alot of other brands carry something similar. Drops the holster about 1.5" from belt and provides a slot for the jacket to drop into. You'll find them in most LEO shops.
