Yellow Perch fishing spots?

Since there isn't a fishing thread I figure this is the best place to post...

I'm interested in doing some fishing for Yellow Perch, something I always enjoyed while growing up in Michigan. I now live in the Centreville/NOVA area so any 'hot spots' in reasonable commuting distance (say 2 hours) will be greatly appreciated...preferably a place where shore fishing is possible. Thanks!

Yellow Perch are very good eating and fun to catch, not huge fish but they provide lots of action when you run across a school of them. I did see Lake Moomaw during some research and I might have to check that out. Thanks for the replies!

I grew up fishing for Yellow Perch on Lake Erie, but I don't know off hand where, or if, they run like that in VA. My son and I caught some nice sized Yellow Perch at Douthat State Park near Clifton Forge last summer.

There is a little magazine that is usaully free at gun shops and sporting goods stores called Woods and Waters (http://www.woodsandwatersmagazine.com). They have regular fishing reports that tell you what's running and where.

Good luck!
