I was talking to my mother the other day and she said something interesting. She was listening to a radio station here in the 757 Eagle 97.3 and they started talking about the shortage of ammo here as of late. Their take on it was that... "Gun owners are going crazy over ammo thinking that Osama is trying to ban or take away their guns, when this is simply not the case. He said many times that this is not in his plans durring his time in office."
This is what she said she heard... I did not hear it myself nor was I able to find it on the net when I looked. This is the misinformation that leads people to belive there is nothing going on... I don't know if it's relevant I just found it rather odd..

Obama did say while running for president that he wasn't going to take our guns away if elected. I didn't believe him then nor do I now.

He's already broken several campaign promises and will no doubt break more. IMO he's not going to move out on gun rights until he's certain that it won't affect his chance for re-election. If he doesn't do it this term and is reelected then he will certainly do it during the second term. Too many democrats in the middle that own guns.

My thoughts on this exactly. I knew he would try to ban guns, I knew that even when he said that he endorsed the NRA. A lie.. My problem is this... If something is promised... not stated but out right promised in an election campain why is it not made to be upheld... It just seems to me that he lied his way into office... Just like so many others do..

These days proffesional politicians are just that ,, We no longer have statesman or people we can trust and be proud of, We have bought and sold droids that are not honorable, or honest, and don;t have to answer to the voters who put them in office,, case in point,, Pelosi. Frank, Obama, Feinstein, McCarthy, and a host of others, campaign promises are just that promises,, THese dirt bags break em like glass if it fits their agaenda,,,

This is one of my big pet peeves with elections and the very place I think we need reform. IMO election campaigns should be restricted. I realize this goes against free speech principles but look what happened with Obama. He was made a darling by the media. I think the media should be held to a very fine line by law on how they cover campaigns. I also think candidates should be held accountable for what they present during campaigns. How that would be done is another story. Its easy to make a promise that you intend to keep only to find the deck stacked against you when you take office. On the other hand its easy to make a promise that you dont intend to keep and tactfully avoid the issue after you take office so it doesnt damage your chance for reelection. We need a system where "regular" people can hold office in congress, senate, and governorship. As it is now you cant run unless you get so many signatures, party endorsement, backing from interest groups, and have a bank full of money.
