Just picked up this Sig P220 at Sterling Arsenal

it is my first sig...very interested to see how i like it compared to my glock 23 (which I love)

hoping to sneak out to Silver Eagle or Blue Ridge on black friday to start breaking it in. I am curious to see how the DA first shot vs single action after effects the shooting, also it has the Short Reset trigger as well.

da/sa will take some getting used to. i do a lot of dry-fire practice and have become very comfortable with the transition.

one thing to be aware of coming from your glock, with it's higher grip to bore axis, try not to ride the slide catch lever with your strong thumb. i was at the range a while back and let a fellow shooter try out my p229r. he was a glock guy and he never got slide-lock when the mag ran dry. i watched closely and, sure enough, he was resting his strong thumb on the catch. he was used to the higher hand position on his glock. thankfully, he kept that knuckle low enough to avoid getting bitten by the slide.

up next for me... i've got my eye on a sweet 1911 that's been 'smithed nicely. just gotta scrape the $$$ together.

It just takes some additional learning and practice effort. Although I'm not one, I do know several folks who can shoot a DA/SA just as well and fast as a pistol having a consistent trigger pull from shot to shot. I recommend that you do some double action dry firing before your range trip to help you get used to the longer heavier trigger pull.

Just remember to run grease on the frame rails and that Sig's like to run wet compared to your Glock.

well as soon as you get that 1911 post some pics : )

I'll keep an eye on the slide catch lever and my grip, based on just holding it and dry firing , I don't think my hand is on it, but the real test will be when i go live; with the beavertail not worried about getting hit by the slide, keeps my hands well below it (or so i hope : ) )

enjoy that 220. as was posted above, sigs like to run wet and best to use grease (vs oil) on the slide rails. gonna pm you a link shortly.
