I've heard a lot of folks talking about the Ruger LCP (Lightweight Compact Pistol) over the last few days. I know two people who purchased an LCP at the Fredericksburg Gun Show.

I received my American Rifleman from the NRA today and right there on page 2 was a full-page ad for the new Ruger LCR! Well, I own a Taurus model 85 .38 special, so imagine my excitement when I saw the new LCR! So, I guess I can add this one to my wish list! I'll post my wish list in a separate post shortly

I really like the look of the grips. They look very comfortable.

I like the looks of it better than the LCP.

that looks sweet. How much does it weigh full? May be my next gun also. Don't want you to get to many up on me.

haha if I had half as many guns as I wished for over the last couple of weeks, I'd still be behind

I'm going to let the early birds work out this gun before I even think of buying one.

The gun sellers will undoubtedly do the market price thing and they will start at $600 to buy one.

Like the LCP when it first came out,all the early ones will have already been sold.

It will likely be four months before the buying hysteria for the LCR dies down.

I can buy a 442 Smith or a 642 Smith in the mean time if I have too.

Otherwise,I already have an outstanding Taurus Model 85 Ultralight that serves this purpose very well for now.

I just wish I have got one with a bobbed hammer.

i won't be buying this one. i can't trust Ruger after seeing recalls of the SR9, followed by the LCP. i just have to think there will be a recall on this one too, but i could be wrong.

the LCR was on the cover of some gun magazine. i wonder how many old folks said "dear god" when they saw a polymer frame revolver on the cover of a gun magazine.

It was a matter of time before somebody got around to manufacturing a polymer framed revolver. Next thing you know they'll be hanging rails all over revolvers.
I'd love to try one out. I already own a S&W j-frame so I don't see rushing out to buy a Ruger but I'd like to try out the new trigger arrangement for myself.

I just bought this gun. It is very light weight and quite handle-able for a woman. I will tell you that it does kick some, but with a tiny bit of practice it is easily over-come. I shot it for the first time on the range on Saturday and used it on Sunday to pass the shooting part of the CCW Class. I missed only once. Just so you know, this was only my third time shooting a gun. I needed something simple and I don't have a lot of intense hand strength, so this gun worked PERFECTLY for my situation.

I am intrigued by the LCR. But, as noted, I'll wait until it's been out for awhile. I like pocket guns and this little guy seems like a great candidate. I have a S&W 638, a Taurus 85 (all steel), and a Taurus 651 (.357mag, all steel). I love snub nose wheelguns. I mostly carry the 651 due to it's .357mag goodness.

I think if I was in the market for a Small Frame Revolver, I'd jump all over this. But since I already own a J-Frame S&W I can't see where it sets the world on fire enough to run out and get one.

As far as Ruger recalls go, They were Proactive and not Reactive Recalls, The problem wasn't really that big of a deal with the SR9, They just wanted to avoid any potentional lawsuits. I read somewhere that said it took the Ruger Lab over a week to even get the gun to fire by dropping it and they could only get it to do it once, Not sure how true that is, But it's nice to see a company stand by their product by recalling it BEFORE anything happened.

Take a look at the S&W PPK recalls, It's been months and I still don't know anyone that has gotten theirs back yet, plus they go back all the way to 2002, That's quite a span before they decided to do something about it.

My wife bought a Ruger LCR and it was her first handgun. She really enjoys shooting it as for me I can't stand it. Basically for me it is a grip thing where for her it fits her hand great and she is becoming quite proficient with it.

I was very anxious to finally see one and while a nice little gun, I was disappointed as a choice for me. The grip was very small in my hands and my fingers got in the way of the laser sight. I dont care for laser sights on defensive handguns anyway but the on again, off again of the light in adjusting my grip was distracting. The $700 price was also more than I thought a gun like that should cost.

I've actually seen a couple of used ones for sale already. The owner didn't state why.

Check Gunbroker.com. There's no shortage of LCR's for sale.

Just saw that Gilberts Small Arms Range (Now SharpShooters? WTF?) has an LCR for rent.
I put 50 rounds through it the other day. It's not a bad revolver and the felt recoil is about on par with my old model 60 J-frame, but with a MUCH better trigger pull.

I'd say go down and check it out.
