My wife and I are leaving Sunday for a few days at the beach. What's there to do or see other than the shops on Atlantic Ave. and fishing ? I'm planning on trying out the head boat out of Rudee inlet again. Just looking for something different. Thanks

There are lots of things to do and see and the oceanfront. Here's a good website to tell you what's happening.

whoa - this is exactly what I was thinking about doing in a couple of weeks... boat from Rudee into the Chesapeake - I want to ride past the Naval base and park downtown at the Nautilus/BB-64 museum.

I haven't had my boat down there yet... Rudee to the downtown area looks like about 30 miles. About a 2-hour ride at 20 knots.

If it was later in the year you could hunt pigs south of VA Beach. Other than that it's either fishing or "sightseeing" on the beach to the best of my knowledge. In my experience, sightseeing on the beach can be a painful experience if done with a wife present.

The Air and Space Museum in Hampton is neat.
Aquarium in Va. Beach if you like animals.
Naval Museum w/USS Missouri

If traveling on 64 to get there--stop at a rest area around Williamsburg or closer and pick up any visitor guides you can find for lots of coupons and ideas.

If you like to hike or ride mountain bikes, I'd suggest the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge - http://www.bbrf.org/

At the southern end of the BBNWR, you'll find False Cape State Park

Yeah that's why I'm leaving the spotting scope at home this year :hysterical:

Thanks everyone for the info  I'm leaving in the morning and will be back on Wednesday. That's about all I can take of the beach.

With a good spotting acope you wouldn't have to leave the hotel room to sightsee at the beach. :hysterical:
