Ruger M77 Mark II 7mm Magnum

Post by fuze »

I saw one of these today in Knuckles Gun Works and could not let it pass me by. I have it on hold until I scratch up some change for it, but the gun is sweet. It is the Skeleton stock model, stainless steel action and barrel. The bolt glides and the gun felt great when I picked it up, Im hoping to bring it home in a week or so. Pics then, I couldn't contain myself in the mean time.

Going to scope/sling the gun to slay deer with. I've never hunted but I want to give it a shot, this rifle will break the ice. I have a weighted sled to sight guns in on so if i miss its my fault, haha.

:hysterical:

I took her out to Hite Hollow today and sighted in on 100 yards, gun in a weighted rest, took 5 shots to get on the bullzeye. I then put up a new paper and put 5 shots into a quarter size circle from the gun rest. New target up, and I shouldered the last 5 rounds.

The rifle is more accurate then me, I like that. This isn't always the case... It kicks like a MackTruck though. Might be the skeleton stock with the overall light weightness of the rifle. My brother has a Vanguard 300Win Mag, doesn't feel as bad. Either way I like it, and I'm looking forward to putting a deer into the x-hairs or even stretching it's legs out on paper somewhere at 500+ yards.

I shot Federal PowrShok 150gr bullets
I've got some 150gr Winchesters and 150g Fuzions to try also.

139gr Hornady GMX's are what I've been feeding my 7mag lately.

Dropped 2 deer this season. 100% penetration, not too excessive on the damage, and quick kills.

Well Rifle ended yesterday for me and I did not get a deer with the 7Mag. I had a doe under me last night as the sun was setting, but I did not take her because she was so small. I got the rifle to hunt rifle season in National Forest for a chance to see a big buck or black bear. I had to pretty much spend this rifle season scouting since I hadn't decided to do it until so recently. Next year will be all gravy. The woods near Elkhorn Lake hold nice deer habitat and beer signs are more common then deer.

I tagged one opening week of urban archery and have been after a big buck since, maybe next year.

Love this Rifle! Kicks like hell, but I can reach out and grab anything I can see. The best gun I have. Accurate and clean. I've never had a problem with it. I made mine a little special though.
