Rock Island Armory 1911s

I just picked up a used Rock Island Armory Compact CS 1911, .45ACP. It's a heavy, solid-feeling pistol and the slide doesn't seem to have much slack in it. Haven't fired it yet. It won't quit raining long enough. I've heard everything from "RIAs are junk" to "RIAs shoot right alongside Custom Kimbers". It looks and feels like a pretty solid pistol, and I haven't got much money in it. It's now the cheapest 1911 I ever bought (less than the Chiappa Puma .22lr). So buying it was a no-brainer, as I see it. But I'm wondering what you folks on this forum think about them.

Although I've had to replace the thumb safety (under warranty) and slide stop (not warranty, but used some gift certs at a LGS in Manassas) in my RIA Tactical, I still love it. I have nothing to compare it to, it being my only one and all. It shoots straight and gets the job done.
