Question about Applebee's

It's just been posted on an Ohio forum that all Applebee's (probably in Ohio or one franchisee with several stores) are to be posted as a CPZ.

Are there many, if any, Applebee's posted CPZs in VA?

I found a post on another forum from 7/6/11 that quotes a suit from Applebee's corporate that they have no policy against concealed carry in their over 2000 stores in the US but request no OC.

I just asked my resident LEO and she knows of no commercial CPZs in Charlottesville.

I've carried in Applebees in Richmond and have never had an issue.

Well, the OP of the thread over on the OFCC forums has had his wrist slapped for posting without making sure that his information was correct.
Many people have stated that they have not found any Applebee's posted in Ohio.

The OP was also reminded of the rule:
"Never ask if a location is posted but always ask why if it is."

So, after following that conversation, and reading the input from the Applebee's higher-ups, I had one thought occur to me:

Suppose I am openly carrying in part because I have no concealed carry permit? If the manager asks me to cover my weapon, would I inform him that doing so is illegal? Or, since it is private property, would it be legal?

"§ 18.2-308. Personal protection; carrying concealed weapons; when lawful to carry.

A. If any person carries about his person, hidden from common observation, (i) any pistol, revolver, or other weapon designed or intended to propel a missile of any kind by action of an explosion of any combustible material; (ii) any dirk, bowie knife, switchblade knife, ballistic knife, machete, razor, slingshot, spring stick, metal knucks, or blackjack; (iii) any flailing instrument consisting of two or more rigid parts connected in such a manner as to allow them to swing freely, which may be known as a nun chahka, nun chuck, nunchaku, shuriken, or fighting chain; (iv) any disc, of whatever configuration, having at least two points or pointed blades which is designed to be thrown or propelled and which may be known as a throwing star or oriental dart; or (v) any weapon of like kind as those enumerated in this subsection, he shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. A second violation of this section or a conviction under this section subsequent to any conviction under any substantially similar ordinance of any county, city, or town shall be punishable as a Class 6 felony, and a third or subsequent such violation shall be punishable as a Class 5 felony. For the purpose of this section, a weapon shall be deemed to be hidden from common observation when it is observable but is of such deceptive appearance as to disguise the weapon's true nature.

B. This section shall not apply to any person while in his own place of abode or the curtilage thereof. "

I've CC'd at Applebees in Charlottesville, but never OC'd. Hmm, may have to go and get lunch. Honestly (Alex Goes Off Topic) I can't see how any business in this economy would turn away a paying customer who wasn't breaking the law. (Back on topic) Any time I was questioned about my OC'd Glock, I just shrugged, explained the rules to them and told them it was for self-defense. Most people didn't care once they realized that I wasn't a criminal, or breaking any laws.

Still will stick with my CC whenever possible.

My son and I have OC in the Manassass Applebees on Liberia Ave. by the Walmart with out a problem, and then walked into the Wal-Mart next door and did our shoping and no one said a word or even gave us a second glance.
