Really Carl!
I don't suppose you would tell me what it is that you do??? I mean... if you were a freedom loving gun nut that happened to work for the BATF or some other federal bureaucracy, I would love to hear your perspective, thoughts and stories.
So come on Carl! I am dying of curiosity over here. What is your profession? Inquiring minds want to know. This could keep us busy for days.

I work in the private financial sector in investigations, and intelligence.
Catching trends, finding potential fraud patterns, shutting down active fraud rings across the U.S., identifying fraudulent documents (actually it's a specialty of mine), and working with law enforcement to facilitate prosecution.
In doing so? I use the US PATRIOT ACT to get information from mutual fraud investigators, and enforce policy.
Nothing fancy, nothing "spooky", I'm just a glorified paper jockey who happens to work with an interesting subject matter.
And it's boring, but... I enjoy it, I like researching people, finding the little details, and putting together paper work. (shrugs)
Soooo, sleep easy VGOF'rs... I ain't "Jonny Law-Dog", or a "FEEBIE"

I certainly never meant to imply that you were a federal goon. I just figured that we like to hang out in the forum and b1tch and complain about federal bureaucracy, if you were an insider then it would be great perspective to be gained on our part. I mean hell, there are a lot of good honest people out there that make a great living infringing on the liberties and privacy of the citizenry! (just a little bit of sarcasm... but a joke nevertheless)

I wanna hear their perspective too.

Here, let me save you a ton of time, keep you from looking all over the place. Theres really only one place you gotta look for the big stuff; and everyone's guilty!

The one thing I've learned in 15 years?
Your information is EVERYWHERE... stop worrying about it, check your credit bureau's for free every 4 months (rotate the different companies, and it cost you NOTHING), and balance your check book/credit card statements every month...
And trust NO ONE!
That, and Russian/Asian Organized Crime love our banks. LOVE....THEM....
Crime keeps me in the lifestyle which I have grown accustomed, just from the opposite side of the coin.

And now with ONSTAR permanently tracking every car with a unit, even after you discontinue your subscription, its gonna be even better - they can track us everywhere. Hopefully I will be able to find some manufacturer without the tracker built in next time I need a new truck.
Otherwise I can look forward to the Fed bean counting squad coming to bust me for getting fried chicken too often and raising the cost of National Health Care.

Yet another reason that I drive old cars. No airbags and no tracking device.

You think Onstar is the only tracker? Interesting.
Between the threads in your money, the cards in your wallet, the cellphone in your pocket, face recognition, vocalization identification, and "Echelon" by the NSA?
Yeah, worry about "ONSTAR".

One thing that I found out whn I hooked my Garmin GPS to my computer to update the maps was the each of these little babies also calculate you carbon footprint based of the routes that you use it to travel with. I found it when i was just poking around in the directory structure seeing what was there.

Pretty much Jake, but now? I'm entry "1016", and there are only 15 more counters before it VANISHES!
And that's better than someone going "Did I win?" 1015 times.

That's a good positive attitude to take with it. Nice way to handle it!

Watched "Person of Interest" on CBS Thursdsy night . Raised some excellent questions as to who's tracking us and what is done with the info. Good guys/bad guys? Do they really care? Or is it just a game to "them"?
