Yup it will happen, despite the fact the rules stating that the winner will be contacted via email. I think they should add a rule that if you post a topic or reply asking if you won you will disqualified!

That will stem it before it happens.

I sent Rick the suggestion to turn the counter off 1000 or so ahead of time. I figure at some point I am just going to quit coming to the site for a day or two to avoid the insanity. I am good on ARs, I figure somebody else can have it...

I just don't want to look at 500 "Did I win yet?" or "Is it me?" trying to find the ten real posts hiding in there.

Agreed! "JACKWAGON!" is the cleanest/best insult you can use. I have the kids using it sparsely in place of calling each other "stupid". I hate it when someone calls someone else "stupid".

Jackwagon doesn't hurt anyone, and we've all be "jackwagons" at one point or another. It's natural.

Alright - I'll go along with the "turn the post count off" idea. I'll leave the part up there that shows the winner when the 100k has been posted.

It's too late to enter anything into the rules about posting ridiculousness, and a certain amount of it can likely be expected, but I think our members can keep it clean and respectful for the most part

Not to sound like a jerk but I could set up a program to easily count how many posts are on the site and set said program up so that it goes through all intro topics and give a general to all I haven't posted in and again wait for the counter to reach a certain number and then have it run the secondary program.

But I won't because it is sort of hacking, but just like any security system it can be got around. But I'm not a jerk and have a sound sense of fair play so no worries!

First off - I don't think that suggesting to everyone that you can cheat the system if you want to is the best way to win friends o influence people.

Second - I will be monitoring/analyzing logfiles, paying specific attention to the IP addresses around the 100K post. Just sayin'...
