I bought a Ruger LC9 today for my girlfriend to serve as her HD gun, and carry gun once she gets her permit. She really likes the ergonomics and feels more comfortable with a gun with a thumb safety (I'm not a big fan, but it's her gun so she needs to get what she wants).

From what I can tell it is very well built. Fit and finish is right there with my Glock 26 and the take-down and reassembly is easy enough. It's super slim and should be fairly easy for her to conceal with most outfits and the right holster. I checked with Comp-Tac and they don't offer the MTAC for the LC9 yet, so I dropped them a line to see if I could get an ETA on availability... hopefully soon.

Shooting impressions... nothing yet, but we're going to head to the range tomorrow morning to break it in. Will be running some Federal Champion and Speer GD 124gr +p through it. I'll post up with a mini range review and pics.

Really no holster for it yet? Kholster Holsters has one I believe. I like them, great CC gun if you ask me. I feel like you don't loose a lot of shootabilty like you do when you move to a very small gun like the LCP. Recoil is definitively manageable. Trigger is maybe a tad long I'm more of a single action guy.

I'll be very interested to see if she still likes it after shooting it.

We are on our way to try it out. I'm excited to see just how snappy it is.

I ordered a Remora for her last night and she's already looking at lasers. She thinks recoil is "fun" so I'll be sure to include her thoughts when I report back later!

So we took the LC9 to the range this morning. It's her gun, so she did most of the shooting. We went through 300 rounds of Federal Champion 115gr FMJ and about 14 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124gr +p JHP. I shot 50 rounds at most.

The gun is nice and accurate once you get used to the trigger. Recoil is snappy but manageable. Considering she put 250+ rounds through it in an hour, I'd say she likes it!

The grip checkering is rough, though, so we ordered a hogue slip on grip.

Nice Gun, I really like mine (Replaced My Kel-Tec PF9) - So far it's been 100% unlike the PF9 -- I hope she continues to enjoy it.

good to hear...when you said +P i feared the worst

I've been Ocing an Lc9 in my car for a few months now. I really like it and I've yet to have any problems with it at the range. I think it will make a great little carry gun once I get my chp.

She decided the other day she doesn't like the +p rounds, so she'll probably stick to training with and carrying the standard pressure Gold Dots.

She'll do just fine with the Gold Dots, There's probably been more people killed by plain old 9mm FMJ's than all the other 9mm type rounds combined, I got say, I'm liking my LC9 more and more every day.

I just happened to have some pics on my phone comparing the two! The quality is not the greatest, but it should give you an idea. The LC9 is taller in the grip, slightly shorter in slide length, and quite a bit narrower than the G26. The width is what makes all the difference in the world.
