Take a few minutes and read this letter, written by Janet Contreras in Arizona, to our nation's leadership. This letter was featured on Glenn Beck's program. If you like what she has to say, sign the petition and pass it on to a friend to read as well.

There is a lot of feeling behind that letter. I agree with everything that she said, as do many people to whom I have spoken since Obama was elected. I hope that "We the People" can come around and make things happen.

WOW. Does anyone know who she sent it too other than Glen Beck? She hit the nail right on the head.
I signed it.

I signed and here was my message.
The 2nd Amendment exists so that, if necessary, we the people can put, you the Congress, in jail for acts detrimental to the survival of the United States. Deficit spending our dollars into the toilet qualifies. We are coming. And we are coming for you. You better hope all you lose is an election.
There is a march on Congress July 4th. Who is coming with me?

Mark - can you give us some details on the 4 July march? Is there a web site?

From:
The March For Liberty Coalition
"Home of the Washington D.C. Tea Party!"
We are being joined by Rick Santelli's Tea Party Movement!
Our Mission
Our intent is to restore the governing of our nation to its constitutional roots. We will use any peaceful means necessary to ensure the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that our founding fathers designed for us, the American people, to enjoy.
About US
We are an independent coalition of like minded-citizens whose only goal is to enforce the Constitution as the law of the land. We will report on elected officials who support this cause, and those who do not. We will also promote candidates from any party affiliation who best suit this cause and can effectively win elections. Limited government, fiscal responsibility and individual liberties are top priorities for any candidate that we may endorse.
July 4th, 2009
"No taxation without representation" began as a slogan in the period 1763–1776 that summarized a primary grievance of the British colonists in the Thirteen Colonies. The people in America were being asked to pay the government without any say in how that government would be run. Sound familiar? It has been a long time since the government of the United States represented it's people but that hasn't stopped them from increasing our taxes and undermining our "lives", our "liberties", and our ability to "pursue happiness". As Thomas Jefferson stated, when government becomes "destructive", it becomes our "right" and our "duty" to remove such government and create a new one.
That is our purpose. We must either "alter" the government or "abolish it", as Jefferson declared. There is nothing wrong with the framework our nation was built on. Our Constitution is a divinely-inspired, miraculous document designed to protect us from tyranny and despotism. To abolish such a framework would be to abolish any chance for liberty to flourish. It is our intention to "alter" our government by restoring it to it's constitutional roots.
To this end we have formed the March for Liberty Coalition. To begin our efforts to restore our republic we will be sponsoring a demonstration in Washington D.C. on July 4th, 2009 scheduled for 10:00 am in the Upper Senate Park adjacent to the Capitol Building north of Constitution Avenue. Please make an effort to join us and tell others about this event.
We will be allowed to demonstrate, not march. There will be too much traffic on that day to take up roadways or sidewalks in an organized march. We can all "walk" down to the event in one group as long as we do not hinder traffic and as long as we raise NO banners and NO signs until we get there.
Here is the link to the Capitol Police map
The single blue dot marks the location (Not the double dot).
Our reservation is for 9:30 am until 2:30 pm. There are a few rules as to what we can do there but nothing unreasonable.
*We will meet at McPherson Square, K street NW and Vermont Ave NW at ~8:45 am for pre-rally briefing and then our leg-stretching 10 block walk to the Upper Senate Park on the north side of the U.S. Capitol*

I'm going to send this letter to every congressman, senator, governor in Virginia and more if I have time and I will make the time. Also to the White House. Every one of us needs to do the same thing.
I say we start an e-mail movement when we send the letter. Make the subject "Are We Coming for You?"
I feel exactly the same as this woman. I've struggled hard for the last few months trying to find my political identity. A couple months ago I finally came to the conclusion that I will no longer support candidates based on "the issues" of the day. I will support them based on how they view and support our Constitution. I am now calling myself a Constitutionalist. Yes, the issues matter but given the current state of affairs IMO upholding our Constitution matters much much more. Without it, the issues can and will morph into anything these bozos think will capture the fancy of voters.
I haven't checked these guys out yet, but there is already such an organization. Here's the link if you're interested.

Thanks for the info! I recommend you ask Rick to put this on a sticky maybe by the 2A March thread to coordinate VGOF members who might be interested in marching together.

Stickies just keep our Asses on the couch.
We should talk about this everyday instead of dooming this to the sticky "graveyard" IMHO

I fully and totally agree. You gotta do something though to get information out to everybody and get them energized. If we're going to talk about this every day here and you dont think a sticky will work then we need to keep
this thread going. Unless you got another idea.

Just never been a fan of stickies. New people look at them but after a while they are ignored. IMHO

I sent a copy of the letter to my rep, both senators, governor, and several others. Here's my letter if you want to copy and modify - please feel free to do so. I appended the letter from Janet Contreras.
I’d like to share a letter with you that Janet Contreras of Arizona recently sent her representatives. You may have read it by now. If not, I urge you to read it and understand that it also reflects my current sentiments. Please understand that I am not accusing you of anything. What I am asking is that you stand up now and speak out loudly in support or our Constitution and rights (all of them) and ensure that they are upheld. The issues of the day no longer matter to me. In my opinion they are created to canvass votes and evolve from election to election. What matters to me most right now is that our Constitution and rights therein are honored and maintained. If you fail to do that job I and many others will work vigorously to see that you do not serve another term. A promise from you means nothing. I expect to see action now to protect and defend our Constitution and ensure legislative actions adhere accordingly. I urge you to speak out today and begin fighting to restore America to the course set by our Founders within the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I received a response from Senator Webb's office this morning to the letter I sent (above). Here's the response (below). He will be getting another note from me this weekend. It's simply pitiful that they can't take 5 minutes to actually address the issue.
Thank you for contacting my office and sharing your thoughts regarding President Obama and his Administration. I appreciate your taking the time to contact me and will certainly keep your views in mind. I invite you to visit my website at http://www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation. Thank you once again for contacting my office.

Tell him that your letter had nothing at all to do with Obama and his administration - it has everything to do with following the guidelines set for us by the United States Constitution and the fact that politicians have wavered from their duty across the spectrum in this regard.
Looks to me like he didn't read a word of your email - or if he did, he certainly didn't take the time to think about or digest anything that it says.
That's half the problem right there... Politicians refusing to read things. They need to read what "We the People" tell them - they need to read the bills that they vote on and sign into law - they need to pay attention to what's going on around them instead of sitting in their leather chair behind their desk daydreaming all day long and then raising their hands to vote on something that they never bothered to read about in the first place!
This is what makes politicians vote down party lines - LAZINESS. "If the party backs it, then so do I - so I don't need to bother reading any of it, I'll just vote the way my party wants me to." (plus, that will keep me out of hot water with the big-wigs in the party!)
What a JOKE.
Now that I think about it and since I went on this diatribe - I think I'll just tell him myself!

Rick - he's not heard the last from me. I'm curious to see what I get from the others I sent this too. Haven't heard from them yet. It's one thing for these bozos to do what they're doing, but another matter entirely when they waste my money with a nonsensical response like this one.
