If you got a good deal or great service from a shop or range and you want to brag about them, here's the place to do it. Likewise, if you are unhappy about someone's service or feel like you've been ripped off, we want to know that too!

I do understand point the gun down the range but wtf when i have a glock with it cocked back with no rounds or mag in the damn thing on the table sideways to refill the damn mag they come up bitching. I have never been bothered 3 times in like 10 mins at any other range in VA( i actually never been bothered at all). They were always behind my back looking over my shoulder. All i can say was that i was almost ready to leave, but paying 25$ for a hr was stupid expendsive when NRA is 18 for non member and Blue Ridge is 20 with out someone standing behind your back watching everything you do. Im not going to be going back.
Before you're bashing the RSO's for doing their jobs, you should really consider whether you want the guy next to you, who doesn't have an empty gun, being pointed at you while he's paying attention to something else. Cause really, safety first :!: , I'd rather know they're being too careful and keeping an eye on everyone than not paying enough attention and someone getting hurt because of it.

MDukes:

I have been to SEG twice. It is a nice facility. Staff is friendly. However, placing your empty weapon, magazine out, slide locked back, on the table in front of you to reload magazines, is perfectly SAFE. There is absolutely nothing wrong or unsafe about that. When an RSO starts picking on customers with ridiculous observations or unfounded requirements, that is when customers stop visiting your facility. Thank you.

Treat every gun as if it is loaded.. .even if it isn't..

Sideways? Why not just point it down range then? I would not want to be the guy next to you knowing you had a weapon pointing at me. Regardless if the slide is back. This is just another layer of protection.

Quit yer bitch'n, abide by the rules and all is well.

I just had a Navy LT give me $h!t a couple of hours ago, because of our wireless policy on base. He had a full blown Kindle in my classroom. (room also doubles as a classified area too with SIPR computers) I asked him to take it out and secure it on the shelf, since it had WiFi and cell capabilities... and he was huffing and puffing about the stupid rule and the first he heard of it. I nicely mentioned (in a command voice)... "LT, that is why you are here today for my briefing. So you *WILL* hear about it". He had an attitude the entire time and I wanted to throw his butt out the window...

Same thing with people who complain about range safety rules....

Chill dude...

In this particular case, the shooter placed his Glock on the table, sideways [on its side] with the muzzle pointed downrange, no magazine, slide locked back. This is what I personally do in every range that does not allow you to practice firing and holstering and unholstering at the shooting position. Don't get me wrong, I am all for safety.

As for you LT with a cell phone, I work in a SCIF 12 hours a day. I know all about it and the reasons behind it....We must leave all devices in metal lockboxes with keys outside, just make sure that you ask your people to turn them off if you use metal compartments. Otherwise if you leave them on inside the metal compartments, it will drain the batteries within minutes....

Gotcha.. mis-interpreted what he meant by "sideways".... semantics in this case, I would have said on it's side, pointing down-range. If that is what he did... but I re-read it and it still sounds like the muzzle was pointed to the side not downrange.

I would rather have RO's watching over closely though. Been swept a few too many times in my life!

Yeah them SCIFs can be a bear huh ;) But he was just a ring knocking D!ck, that's all... He had an attitude the whole time.

A favorite of mine...regarding the "dumb" rule about the pistol sideways no mag and slide locked...from a distance the RSO might only see a pistol sitting sideways...they dont know the readiness condition...only the shooter - hopefully - knows that....rules like that are barriers for a reason.

Case in point...my wife Young demands that we leave for the gym at or before 0530, not 0531...why? because she knows that if we start leaving at 0531 then soon I'll be heading out the door at 0535, then 0540...

Same principle on the range...if they start overlooking pistols with no mag and slide locked positioned sideways on the table then whats next....gee, sorry Mr. RSO and shooter to my left...I was quite certain the safety was on...

Barriers for a good reason cause we are programmed to push beyond barriers and to press on...besides, there is almost always at least one noob and one idiot on the firing line...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

Got the below in an email today...

LEAD-FREE NOTICE

Dear SEG Patrons,

One of Silver Eagle Group’s goals is to continuously provide the level of quality service and facilities that you have come to know. Recently we have been experiencing high temperatures on our ranges that have been causing discomfort for many of our shooters. We are taking this issue seriously and are excited to announce that we will be enhancing our facility to improve the environment of our ranges. This will not require the facility to shut down, however, while we are upgrading the HVAC systems it will be necessary to limit the amount of lead that is used in the facility. We will continue to have 3 lanes available on each of our ranges for customers to use ammunition containing lead. Green, clean fire ammunition will be required on the remaining lanes during the improvement process. For your convenience, we have a variety of this ammunition in stock that is available for purchase at our merchandise counter. We understand your concerns about green ammunition costs, so throughout our upgrades we are committed to keep our prices for this product consistent with our current ammunition pricing.

The Silver Eagle Group is focused and dedicated to being the premiere shooting and training facility in the area, and this is the next step to getting there. We thank you in advance for working with us during this period and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you. As always please feel free to give us a call, shoot us an email or drop by and speak to one of the staff should you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you at the range!

Thank you,

SEG Team

I've been here recently. It's becoming my favorite range. They seem to be less crowded then Blue ridge and NRA range. They also usually don't try to run me out after the hour's up if there aren't people waiting, which is more frequently the case then not.
Very nice people, very modern facilities. I'm not a member, and this place is a little more expensive than other places, but not by much, and I prefer the low wait and nice facilities for that slightly extra change.

Take a look at the gun shop. Anthony keeps the prices very competitive, which of course means I end up buying ammo from them to shoot anything I buy right away!

Just visited last weekend. Pretty disappointed. I took my wife for her first time after telling her how great it was. I had a free pass from attending a zombie/kill house event I had taken a group to. Reception desk was short with us, claimed to not have me in their system. Overheard an RSO being really condescending to a group of shooters waiting for a lane. Then while we are getting rung up I mention to cashier that I want to rent and assuming my wife likes the Sig Mosquito buy one. Ammo price was ridiculous, he could not have had a worse attitude and acted more disinterested in helping us. I was so annoyed with his lack of customer service I passed on renting the Sig. I also drove all the way to Winchester and bought the mosquito there. Firm believer in voting with my dollar. I will be driving to NRA range from now on. I am also going to go visit Sterling Arsenal and hope they become my new neighborhood gun store and ammo supplier.
