Re: I'm getting really nervous about the Governors race
Tell ya' what everyone.
On election day? I'm thinking of taking the day off, and carry old progun, anti-commie folks to the polls...
I'm gonna make sure that everyone who CAN vote conservative/libertarian WILL vote!
I would love to see an extreme upset of T-Mac! Frakin HATE that guy!

Well, FFX isn't known for being the freest county in VA.

Re: I'm getting really nervous about the Governors race
I wouldn't be too swayed by current polls--this is going to be a low turnout election, and in such elections conservatives tend to do better because they are better informed and more motivated voters.
We've watched the lawless, coercive approach take by the Obama administration nationally for the past 5 years. McAuliffe is a machine hack--nothing more--who will bring that home to us. He's explicitly told us what he intends with respect to firearms. It's fine to talk about how the legislature will slow him down, but I wouldn't underestimate how far he'll get working in tandem with Eric Holder & the DoJ. A vote for Sarvis may feel good, but it is, objectively, a vote for McAuliffe & Obama's agenda in VA.

Oh the irony....SpanishInquisition wrote:I wouldn't vote for that papist as dog catcher, and every one of you that votes for Cuccinelli will be voting for a religious zealot that sees no problem with imposing the tenets of that religion upon others. I thought that was the kind of thing we were fighting against since September 2001.

Re: I'm getting really nervous about the Governors race
I was also raised in a very christian/catholic household. Went to religion, church every weekend, did my Communion, never did get confirmed tho. However, I was also raised in a household that taught me to mind my own god darn business, especially on matters that didn't affect my life in any way.Diggs27 wrote:OK Reverend..... got me there. As far as the stance on homosexuality, I myself have a few friends who are gay. I have no problem with it (just as long as they keep it to themselve's, if you get my drift); however the thing I do have a problem with is the whole same sex marriage debate. I was born and brought up in a very devout Christian household, so that may have something to do with it all; but I just feel as if it ruins the sanctity of marriage to see 2 men or 2 women sharing in the vows of marriage with one another. If it was truly meant to be that way; do you not think he would have created Adam and Steve instead of Adam and Eve??? Also; as far as abortion rights... I am very much opposed to them. I do understand that in some instances, the child may be unwanted(ie: the woman who is pregnant happens to be a rape victim); but why not give that child a chance at life. There are many people within our country who are "dying" to have a child and can not due to medical conditions or what not. I sure do know that I would love to have a child; but is not an option to me due to an injury when I was younger....
People need to get over the gay marriage thing. For Christ's sakes, here we are trying desprately to protect gun rights we are on the brink of losing, while trying to tell people "it doesn't affect you" and "if you don't like guns don't buy one". How do you think that makes us look when we want to bash other people for doing things that don't affect us... especially if there are pro gun gay couples, do you think that makes them feel welcome and willing to fight with us?
The whole sanctity of marriage thing is BS too. Me and my wife are happily married, neither of us has ever said "well hell, our marriage is gonna go down the crapper now that gays can get married".
We are so close to losing what we have in va and people are still trying to make enemies. I'm pretty sure the founding fathers wanted EVERYONE to live Free, not just gun owners.
Don't use religion as an excuse for your ignorance.
I just don't get how you can say you have gay friends, yet if they decided to get married, would you not support them? With Friends like that who needs enemies?
I do agree with your stance on abortion tho, but again, in the end I really don't care, won't affect my life in any way.

Back on the topic of this thread...I watched the recent TMac video, and I always get sick to my stomach when these pricks use the line...
"... I'm a gun owner, and I support the second amendment, however..."

And you, Bob, sound like a broken record. Try some critical thinking for once instead of blindly voting 'R' every time because that's what daddy told you.
I have voted republican my entire life as adult, but Cuccanelli is no better than McAuliff and he will not be getting my vote.
Have fun signing one of your rights away at the polls. I know the voice of rational thought falls on deaf ears with you because rather than attempting to refute facts with facts you resort to name calling.

SI, since you know nothing about me, you might refrain from making such wild assumptions about the nature of my political positions. With such personal attacks, you are the one who is dragging this thread into a DailyKos-style gutter, and it reflects poorly on you.

Re: I'm getting really nervous about the Governors race
Hey guys, politics makes people "un-friend" each other quicker than anything I know of. Case in point: when Walmart wanted to put a store here in Front Royal, they wanted to build it right on the banks of the Shenandoah. At one public hearing I saw two guys sitting together who I knew were life-long friends. One got up and spoke in favor. When he went back to sit with his friend, he was told to "go sit somewhere else, cause we ain't friends anymore."
We can disagree, but lets not lose sight of the fact that all of us here want the same thing: to keep the unalienable rights that we have enshrined in the constitution. We don't have to agree with who the other guy votes for, but we don't have to lose sight of the bigger picture either.
We're all in this together.

The fact is if you want to loose gun rights then vote tmac.
Although, if he wins I'm not losing any of my gun rights...take that however you want...

Really, open up your mind and do some critical thinking like SI suggests. Your posts are filled with anger, attacks, and the same ol' same 'ol. I don't think you've addressed a single thing that's been brought up to you. Instead, you just keep aggressively repeating the same lame arguments and don't understand what people are trying to say (hint: you don't have to agree with something to understand it).
Yeah, now you're going to blame me now and attack me, and blah blah blah.

THIS is a fact. Nothing against Sarvis, but he's *unelectable*. Jesus would make the better Governor, so if pleasing your conscience is the only goal, "Vote Jesus".vaeevictiss wrote:Vote for sarvis and elect TmacSpanishInquisition wrote:Right, so vote for Sarvis and protect ALL your rights.

Re: I'm getting really nervous about the Governors race
I don't think anyone should be laying a "guilt trip" or calling anyone a traitor. Vote for whoever you want, but understand and be responsible for the consequences. Sarvis has zero chance and those votes have better effect in the "Not T-Mac" column. I personally like what the guy is about (mostly), but it will not happen. Hell, I even gave money to Sarvis because I want to continue to promote Libertarian ideals and candidates - but I'll be voting for KC.trailrunner wrote: I'm getting a little tired of the guilt trip going on here that tries to equate people voting for Sarvis with voting for McAullife and for being a traitor to the GOP.
