I would not want to live in Italy. After seeing how their justice system works....no thanks. Ours is bad, theirs is worse.

In that is is corrupt, favors the rich/well connected, and is highly sensationalistic, and thus totally different from our justice system?mamabearCali wrote:I would not want to live in Italy. After seeing how their justice system works....no thanks. Ours is bad, theirs is worse.

Like I said, I felt no real difference in my own perceived "freedom level" here or any other "Western" nation. Perhaps the this being the "land of the free" idea is an older notion? I was born late in the game so I don't know how it was before the hippy baby boomers ran things into the ground.
Back to the other first world nations though, did then we become "less free" and they "more free" or did things just kind of equalize after WW2?
Intriguing stuff.

I see you point. Can we sue the US government for false advertising?Kreutz wrote:Like I said, I felt no real difference in my own perceived "freedom level" here or any other "Western" nation. Damn, I never read the asteriked text; my fault.
Maybe things were better before the Patriot Act and DHS molesting 3 year olds in airports...but then you had the Red hunts of post war era...maybe before that....well, then it was socialists and isolationsists getting hounded during the Great War...maybe pre WW1? No, then it was pesky Southern secessionists, well, maybe before that? Those left-over loyalists werent treated too kindly, before that, well, man did those uppity Quakers get thouft uppancecome!
Looks like there are exceptions!
