Ok, I quickly went through the tactical field care presentation and it does not say dont use a tourniquet...matter of fact looks like it promotes and recognizes use by first responders (most of the time me or you) to stem severe bleeding...not so sure I trust any sources that encourage abandonment of this practice to stem blood loss when other methods fail or are obviously not enough...I strongly recommend those knowledgeable in first aid use everything at their disposal to save life/limb if it comes down to it. I dont want to be near the guy who knows how to save my life but is afraid to do it...

I tried to respond to your last defense of the tourniquete but the site kicked me out and I never got back to your concern. HAIL YAYAH!! use one for uncontrolled bleeding. Absolutely.

Ouch, just found out the closest First Responder class is in Carolin County. That's about an and hour and a half from here and it's a multi day class. It may be a while before I have a chance to take it if ever.

Did you want to do it or just read up on it. You should be able to get hold of a Brady manual or AAOS manual from someone that has taken the course.

Don't despair, check the class catalog at the nearest community college or Vocational/ Technical School. I know Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave has offered it before.

No problem being in the same foxhole with you bro...IMHO uncontrolled bleeding is the first thing to deal with if at all possible.
