28 minutes before the West Coast polls close. I wonder if the people of Cali were able to put the weed down long enough to cast their vote.
My guess is that they are all still sitting on the couch, eating Doritos and toking on a doobie.

Another example of Independents spoiling the race. The 2% wasted votes could have pushed the (R) over the top.zephyp wrote:NO NO NO...connolly the socialist must go...
That's a shame.

Huh? The independent didnt spoil the race. They only voted for themselves. The voters cast their votes. The socialist liberals spoiled the race. We need more choices AND we need more control over who the candidates are. I'm all for having a conservative congress and administration but to have only 2 choices that THEY control is crap and garbage.OakRidgeStars wrote:Another example of Independents spoiling the race. Furthermore there are still 2 hurdles for the republicans to cross...1 - they still have to be sworn in and be seated in january. Thats a long way off. And, more importantly once they are seated they must overcome themselves and deliver on their promises. I have much less confidence in the latter happening the way many of us hope.
I watched how the republicans walked away from extending the tax breaks for everyone making less than $250k per year. I'd like to see them extended for everyone but if the republicans fumble extending the tax breaks for middle class then IMHO they have failed miserably. So far they have not impressed me one bit in how they have handled this one issue where they could have compromised and at least lived up to one of their recent campaign promises to take care of the middle class.
EDIT: and for everyone's edification I am obviously far less impressed with the democrats.

Hey DK I am right there with you on this and it looks like it will be a recount here in the 11th.
Problem is that the Democraps left this debt bomb that will have to be dealt with by the end of this month. This is the vote on whether to raise the debt ceiling or not. I think that the Republicans should vote against raising it and shut it all down until the first of the year. You know that the House has not passed the budget yet as they wanted to see how the elections go. I think we need to stick it to this congress and make them make the hard decisions based off what they learned from this election.
I don't care who you are last night The People made their voice heard that they did not like the direction the Democrats were taking us.
The need to extend the Bush Tax cuts in their entirety even if it is for just the 2 years that only makes sense as I for on am not looking forward to the AMT going in play starting Jan 01
I will tell you I think that if the R's and D's did not learn there lesson from this then they will pay for it again in 2012
Just my .02 worth on the morning after

Well, let's see what happens. But if Mr. Fimian wins--and more, if the House does turn over to the Republicans, experience has shown me that the R's will just go right back to "more o' the same." I'm with DK; we need more choices, and as citizens, it's up to us to make sure that happens. The situation that we're in is OUR fault for letting our elected officials (both R and D) get away with all that they've done to our country so far. At present, the R's are just as bought 'n' paid for as the D's.

The problem with "D's" being paid for, and the "R's" being paid for is the PRICE!
"D's" COST MORE!
I'll take a bargain basement paid for "R".
Now, that being said? I'll take a "DINO" (Dem In Name Only), if they truly act independent.

OK, the smoke is almost cleared. A mandate was laid out and the next step is 2012. What HAS to be done now is the people we sent to DC need to be reminded every damn day why they are there and needs to be done by everyone. The problem in the past has been we send them and FORGET them. That needs to change by everyone. When you don't watch the children they go astray. I know from raising my own kids you need to them on a short leash and in this case today that may be a real possibly until they learn. So between now and 2012 we need to keep just as involved as we have been over the past 2 years. We have come a long way and still have work to do. It can and will be done!

Yes. The problem is that not all localities report at the same time. Thus, early results can show a huge difference for one candidate if the returns are mostly from localities which are heavily biased. I.e. the distribution of Rs or Ds in any given district is non-uniform.jrswanson1 wrote:So, between when I posted yesterday to now, connolly went from being double percentage points down to ahead by less than 500 votes?

This is why both parties gerrymander. You want to be sure to have enough supporters to win your district, but not overwhelmingly so you can "cancel" out as many of your opponents votes as possible. Geographically, most districts make no sense.

Good deal and that means more than merely sending them an e-mail through their web site....we may find that camping on their lawn is the only way to get them to listen...Paliden wrote:OK, the smoke is almost cleared.
