Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
OK - just finished the load out. So, in addition to my boom sticks I will also be bringing:
1 folding table
1 mover mat (for atop said table)
1 tarp (for catching brass)
1 Digital SLR with remote (for that all important group shot)
1 HD Video Camera
1 Tri Pod
1 Spotting Scope (it's a bazillion years old but does the job)
1 AR 15 Cleaning kit, AR tool & fore grip remover (just in case)
1 9mm cleaning kit
1 Bowie knife for brush cleaning
Paper plates
an old laptop
A hard drive
The cameras all are charged & easy to use. If you see a great shot coming up - grab one & go.
Man - can this get any more fun?????
I am woefully short on SKS ammo. So if someone has any lying around my SKS is yours to borrow!!!!

Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
I am bringing a first aid kit, an old computer monitor, computer tower, keyboard, some chicken wire fencing and posts to clip targets on, a couple two liter water bottles, a bunch of cans and some tools to work on any weapons that need it. I am bringing a rare Lee Sporter Enfield .303 rifle that I am issues with the magazine that I hope someone might have some ideas about. It will shoot but the magazine is a new part not an original and it doesn't lock into place very well. Gun wise it's an AR15, Armalite AR180-Vietnam war era, Savage .17 HMR, old Sears and Roebuck .22 jam master, 3 or 4 pistols, Mossberg 500 12 Gauge for the clay pigeons and possibly my 30.06 just to check the scope. I have a neat .22 pistol made by Savage that looks like an old cowboy six shooter but only holds 1 shot. It has no recoil and is great for kids and people not used to handguns. I don't have any quick clot in my first aid bag so if anyone has some feel free to bring it just for safety sake. It sounds like we have a good turnout coming and this should be a blast.

Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
I'm bringing some marking ribbon for a firing line, some small orange cones to help mark things off, a 100' tape measure, a couple of cheap things to shoot at that I picked up at wal-mart tonight. I may bring a table, but it's 8' and I don't know if it will fit in the bed of my truck with the camper shell on it. I'll also have a cooler with a couple cases of soda iced down.
Oh, I'm probably going to bring a couple of pallets too. Seems that they might make good target stands one way or another.
and VGOF stickers!
I'll have a couple of .38's, a 10/22, a Daly 1911, S&W .40, SA/XD9 and a 12 gauge.
When I arrive, I'll be the guy in the crew cab Ford F-250 diesel. I'll have the whole crew with me.
I think that's about it for now.

Well, sadly I will not be able to attend. I have promised to get the garden finished this weekend so I'm off to get a roto-tiller. Can't chance tomorrow because more rain coming in. And, I got caught up in thinking this was tomorrow until John corrected me....and with that I jumped out of bed this morning at 0450 thinking I was late for the gym only to realize a couple minutes later that its Saturday morning. Now yesterday I was very aware that it was Friday while I was at work...

Alright D day, zero hour-3. I will have a group with me at Five guys. My wife, daughter(red head) and two teenage boys. I will wait in the parking lot by the front entrance. I am driving a GMC Jimmy(tan/gold) with handicapped tags. I can almost smell the gun powder

Take it from an ex farm boy. It's too early to get serious about a garden. We had a heavy frost this morning.
Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
Wow - I can't get my thoughts together to be pithy but today was AMAZING!!!! Thanks to John & Rick for organizing it. I will work on the video/photo montage tomorrow.

Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
We had more than a heavy frost - we had a solid freeze this morning.
Man - What a day!!! I didn't get a head count, but I'm guessing approximately 30 of us including the kids. I think everyone had a great time. I know we did! Thanks to John (firstcavapache) for hosting this. It was great to meet a few new faces!
I didn't get to spend much time on the rifle side of the house. You guys had some nice hardware over there though.
Here are a couple of shots from my phone-cam.
First up - A Lamboghini pulled into the Five GUys parking lot a couple of minutes before we left to head to the farm. Somehow, TheWife and kid made their way over there and Austin fenagled his way into the driver's seat! LOL I thanked the guy and off we went to the farm.
Part of the caravan - full of shooters coming across the field Parking and getting out to survey the place.
Setting up the rifle range. We ended up having rifles to about 200 yards, pistols started out at about 25 yards, then we switched it up to about 10 yards. We even had a little skeet setup (thanks graybeard321!). It was great! Setting up the pistol range
Kelsey getting some instruction from SgtBill, shooting his Glock .40 cal.
The boys chillin' with some ears and eyes. SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY!
The pistol range table. Who is that gorgeous creature in the pink shirt?
She really looks like she knows what she's doing!
The pistol range and a few shooters.

Many thanks to John and Rick and everybody that showed up - Good times today!

Re: Culpeper Meet and Greet-3/27/10
Regrets...
Didn't even make it over to the rifle range -
man, I could spend all day at any of the three stations - rifle, pistol, or shotgun.
How a bout a three day event?!
Brent - I really enjoyed bustin and dustin, thanks for bringing the trap. I'll have to check the cookbook rack, I know I've got a recipe for skeet casserole around here somewhere.
My shoulder talked to me all the way home. 100rds of 12 ga through that short barrel baby is just about enough...
Nah, no regrets, we just gotta do this again. SgtBeeyll, here we come!

It would probably be wise to check the photos for license plates and serial numbers. Blur them out.
