They are prime examples of what happens when one group gets too many goodies given to them..Now like spoiled children they are throwing a first class coniption fit because they lost some to their own greed. Screw Em! They should never have been given the half of what they have... using the old threats of "What about the children?," Do you not want police and fire protection? the garbage won;t be picked up...etc ..etc..The Fed,States and Metros have caved in time and again to this fear tactic... Once again I say ,Screw Em! A little time off won;t kill the kids, Cops have no obligation to protect people, firemen either ,and bury the damn garbage if necessary,,, Like the Auto Workers these people have had it too good for too long and its time to yank their chain back to the heel position. The taxpayers cannot be held prisoner any longer

Actually, they are 100% right. Democracy is just mob rule and on its tame days, that is exactly what it looks like. We use to be a Republic where the rule of law was the highest principle. Only the House representatives and to a somewhat more limited extent the President were elected by popular vote.

Actually, they are 100% right. Democracy is just mob rule and on its tame days, that is exactly what it looks like. We use to be a Republic where the rule of law was the highest principle. Only the House representatives and to a somewhat more limited extent the President were elected by popular vote.

With respect to the technical meaning of the term - yes, but I think their meaning in this context is this is how its supposed to be done today in our "democracy..." Good thing we live in a Republic with laws...which reminds me, why arent those cops doing anything? They are all just standing around...arent there laws against this...1st amendment gives us the right to "peaceable assembly."

But democracy has been the liberal battle cry for so long exactly because it leads where they want to go. It is how democracy's work, ours too. Their central theme is egalitarianism, which demands equality in all aspects to include outcome.

Egalitarianism applied to governance is democracy. Egalitarianism applied to economics is socialism. The same underlying principle drives both and it is no accident that democracies tend toward socialism over time. Same ideal, but different areas of application.

We were never to have a democracy. The closest we were ever to come was how we elected some of our representatives, but the government was never to be a democracy for such governments are inherently flawed for the flourishing of liberty and rights.

A democracy requires the extinguishing of rights and liberty in order for it to abound; majority rule is not compatible with liberty...it nearly is the antithesis of it! There is no restoring the Republic if we believe that we have a "democracy."

@Garrett, yep. We do employ a democratic process but democracy is mob rule...like what the democrats did when they shoved obamascare through...

Exactly. Don't confuse a small part of the process for governing principle. We use a representative oligarchy process to select judges (and it use to be for Senators), but that does not make our system an oligarchy.
