We could do that, but I'd lose. At 8.2 posts per day on this website alone, Gunderwood has far too much energy for me.

Just to clarify, it's not that I don't believe what I read on the internet. I'm just of the opinion that relying on the results of a government competition that Sig failed to win as evidence of their poor quality it nonsense. Especially when the contracts they did win are ignored. Truth be known, neither Smith and Wesson, nor Glock, won that ATF competition at that time, either. None of the candidates received a contract as a result of that test particular test. And that's not eviendence of Glock's or Smith's poor quality, either.
I wasn't relying on it, it was just another piece of the jigsaw. There is a difference between not winning and not even making it through a testing regime due to failures or reliability issues. There are other cases, but the one I provided didn't even let SIG complete the test (move on to phase 3) due to reliability issues. That by itself means not much, but added with the other failures and people who are in the know does add up to something IMHO. It could just be a coincidence that these things started happening around the time SIG hired Kimbers dear-leader, but that seems unlikely given all of the evidence. Strangely enough the same coincidence happened when he was at Kimber too.

In the end they are still very good guns, but I wouldn't classify them as great like they once were IMHO.

Good discussion, Gundwerwood.

You, presumably, live in Virginia. That alone makes you a good fellow. You and I probably share 99% of the same ideas on politics and gun control or we wouldn't come to this site. It's interesting how a minor issue of disagreement on the 'net seems like a clash a character. When really, compared to those issues you and I surely agree upon, it is tiny issue.

Absolutely. I like a good forceful debate and it shouldn't be taken as a personal attack.

One statement I will remember. Do you have sources to back this up? Some of us could use it one day perhaps.

Yes, I do have sources. But I'm not going to tell you what they are right now. I find that I can stretch out my value to society if I let my knowledge trickle out a little at a time.

It is commonly known but seldom acknowledged publicly, as the vast majority of people are not Virginians, and are duly shamed by that truth: they wish not to be reminded of their inadequacy, and it is inconsiderate to point it out.

Well, as long as you says its true its good enough for me...(reminds me of something grandpa simpson might say) -- back in the day Micro said it was true and it was good enough to get us out of any trouble...

@Diomed - While I wasnt born here I'm still a Southern Alabama born n bred redneck and here I'll stay...in VA that is...you can have NOVA.

I suggest you just print out my post and fold it up and keep in your wallet next to your driver's license. If you ever get pulled over, just hand it to the officer with your other credentials.

CZ's are great pistols. They fit my medium sized hands and eat everything. One problem. One CZ is never enough.

gunderwood,
thanks for the link. i read the whole thread.
i sure hope my p229r (born 2010) continues to hold up well. it has about 2000 rounds thru it so far without any failures. i also just picked up a p239 for cc, but haven't been to the range with it yet. it looks real good on inspection and field strip, but i'm gonna work it hard this weekend. if it's gonna hiccup, i wanna know asap.

either or... Sig parts can probably be found more available than CZ. For what it's worth, I traded a 75 SP-01 for a Glock a few weeks ago... Only reason: mechanical implements tend to fail before we expect them to. Sig and Glock, I know EXACTLY how and where I would replace a part... its not a matter of if for ME its WHEN... I realize the prolific properties of both Sig and Glock... they are everywhere and their track records are proven here in the States.

just my .2c's...

Just a note that your prices may be a bit off. I just ordered a Sig P226 Platinum Elite for $1020 at a gunshop in MD. Of course, there is 6% MD Tax and the other BS fees from MD.

I should also note that I have owned my Sig P220 for two decades now and it has been one of the best purchases of my life.

GLOCK, GLOCK, GLOCK, AND MORE GLOCK. I carried a Sig for 11 years, great guns, but once you go GLOCK you never go back.

Save your money and buy a EAA witness . instead of CZ they are the SAME Gun for all practical purposes.

I have a 226R Navy, (and a 228R) I would love to carry it CC but its a little large for that, hence a P239 in 9mm,(all guns I bought new). If you can carry it concealed kudos to you. Don't know anything about the CZ but I have owned and trained with the 92F and various 1911's, and prefer the P226 in any circumstances. Yep they ain't cheap, but nice used 226's can be had at reasonable prices, (500-600$ range). But if you prefer the nice and shiny new one with the blue Sig band on the grip, you will pay much more. Good luck with your choice. (maybe the question should be asked about customer service for both companies?) I can say Sig is there for you if you need them, I sent a P220 for trigger work and hygene, less than 2 weeks and it was back home safe and greasy,(I have since parted with it and miss it dearly)
