Just wanted to drop a quick posting to say that we really enjoyed ourselves today, and also to thank everyone that allowed the kids to shoot their weapons! Everyone was extremely friendly and nice, and we look forward to attending many more functions!

And here is the code section that we discussed briefly at lunch regarding certain localities being specifically mentioned in state law regarding carrying of a loaded firearm. Note that the second paragraph exempts CHP holders from these restrictions.

18.2-287.4. Carrying loaded firearms in public areas prohibited; penalty.

It shall be unlawful for any person to carry a loaded (a) semi-automatic center-fire rifle or pistol that expels single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material and is equipped at the time of the offense with a magazine that will hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition or designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock or (b) shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered on or about his person on any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, public right-of-way, or in any public park or any other place of whatever nature that is open to the public in the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, or Virginia Beach or in the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, or Prince William.

The provisions of this section shall not apply to law-enforcement officers, licensed security guards, military personnel in the performance of their lawful duties, or any person having a valid concealed handgun permit or to any person actually engaged in lawful hunting or lawful recreational shooting activities at an established shooting range or shooting contest. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.

The exemptions set forth in 18.2-308 shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to the provisions of this section.

Right, but if I'm reading he law correctly, Carrying a Glock 17, or 19 with a 19/15 round clip should be ok. (Since the law applies to pistols with 20+ round clips).

I had a great time today, it was nice to meet you all. Thanks to everyone who let me blow off a few rounds. Also, thanks for letting me be the resident cheapskate by not only using a guest pass but then taking everyones brass (after asking of course). I'll be out to the next one definately..

I almost forgot - a special "Thank you" to graybeard321 and URFIR3D for offering some free guest passes to some of the folks who showed up.

SharpShooters requires a minimum 1 month membership at $12.00 plus a $10.00 range fee (or something like that) and the guest passes offered up by these two generous souls allowed some people to get in for free (me included). All I paid for were some targets.

Thanks guys!

I agree with DK, I am so sick of snow. I know that I had a good time, just seeing the smiles on the young childrens face aas they were shooting the different firearms made the whole event a sucess for me. I am looking foward to our first outdoor shoot. I have a 3/4 cock professional skeet launcher which I can bring
