Re: Blue Ridge Arsenal, Chantilly VA
The last thing I heard was that the matches were being shut down until Nov. due to the much needed renovations to the ventilation system. They hinted at doing a 2-gun at the end of Nov. and starting back with IDPA handgun in Dec.

Excellent. Anyone here shoot the 2-Gun match? How was it? Was anyone handicapped using open sights? I've done one match and one qualifier and could barely see the sights on my revolver and pistol. It's almost like night shooting there. I may have to get night sights, but I can't do that with my revolver, and old S&W.

I shot the 2-gun match, had a great time. There was no handicapping, but there were two divisions - Optic Sights and Iron Sights. I was told they were going do the renovations in Sept and Oct. The matches are still on their books for Nov and Dec. There may be another 2-gun match in Nov.

OK, I just got a membership there. The discounts dont mean much since they are so over priced anyway. But free use of the range is a good deal. They give you a stapler and always have plenty of cardboard.
The AC is out, but they have fans on the range and also put free stuff in their freezer in the lounge.
Mostly what I care about is the wide variety of guns to rent at reasonable prices. And you dont have to buy their ammo when using your gun.
I have visited 4 times and always have fun. The only downside is the horrid parking situation.

Yeah, parking is pretty bad. I normally try to get there early - right after they open on weekdays. Advantages are: more available parking, less crowded range, and not as stupidly hot as it gets later in the day. I've rented a gun once (an N-frame 22 revolver that I hated) - but now I have more than enough to keep me busy. Though I'm told I really need to shoot a Glock 19...ShortMan wrote:OK, I just got a membership there. The discounts dont mean much since they are so over priced anyway.
