HEY! Don't be giving them CONSPIRACY THEORIES! You know the Progressive/Communists ALWAYS love to blame us for IMAGINARY problems!

Gun confiscations and martial law are both plausible government responses to an Ebola outbreak in America considering recent policies by the Obama administration and the fact that the military has been preparing for domestic deployment for the past several years.

Unless people in the first world start defecating into their drinking water, I don't think this is going to be a problem here.

Sept 1st, a sick foreign student from Africa is back to school and sneezes in NYC metro during rush hour. Please continue from here.

By this logic everyone in NYC would have tuberculosis.

Not a MD, However I wonder what the infection rate is between the two. I know you can be exposed to TB and never develop symptoms and live a long full life.

How infectious is Ebola? I really don't know.

I wonder if the Dallas case stems from Mexico?

If so, I'm rather close to the Mexican border fairly frequently. I wonder how long it would take to spread if an infected person passed it along to a few others in a border truck stop?

A truck driver in Laredo, Texas could end up in Montana tomorrow, then Maine by Friday, making several stops for food, fuel, and restrooms along the way. In 30 days time, he could fathomably hit each of the continental 48, stopping in each one. And that's just one driver.

Incidentally, such a scenario may prove unlikely with something like ebola (I don't know. Admittedly, I'm a bit ignorant of most diseases) But, ebola isn't the only horrible disease. The Mexican border is so porous that is may as well be non-existent. And, it seems that the Mexican non-border is a popular place in which to sneak into the country.

And, truck stops on the border are packed with foreigners. They beg, hitchhike, and wander around the store.

The thought that a trucker could pick something up, be it ebola or some other Godawful, wretched disease, is actually a concern. Seems like a way for things to spread.

I realize that my response to it a couple months ago was flippant and nonchalant, but having thought about it a bit. ... well, I find that I am concerned, after all.

I was scheduled to go to a meeting in Dallas on November 17 with folks from all over the country. They just announced it's moved to Chicago. But I'm wondering if I want to crawl on an airplane and share air with 200-300 strangers from God knows where to go anywhere at all. I really need to go. I really want to stay home. I particularly wonder if Atlanta, which is the Delta hub I'm doomed to go through no matter where I'm going to end up, might not be a place to be avoided above all others.

Things have come to one hell of a pass when Americans think they need to worry about travelling around inside their own country.

You think you're kidding, don't you? I actually did drive to a meeting in Chicago once to avoid flying. 545 miles. And that's about the break even point for me; where the time spent traveling while driving equals the time spent traveling while flying. But I've reached the point where driving 550 miles in a day is just more driving than I want to do. I might see if United or US Air or whoever the other carrier at the Tri-Cities, TN Airport is can get me to Chicago through Charlotte. I hate to, though. Crappy as Delta's service is, everybody else's is even crappier out of Tri-Cities.

I'd never do that, Kreutz. Afraid I might catch something; and around half of them couldn't pass the physical.
