I mentioned to an insurance broker that we keep weapons in the stores for personal defense. I said "will this affect my rate at all?" The broker said, "only if the criminal lives. Dead people can't sue you." LOL
Broker was true to his quote. May rate didn't change after hearing we had weapons in the store for employees to use to defend themselves. How could my customers affect my rates?

As I said, I also doubt insurance considerations mandated the no-gun policy, but I would not be willing to say it did not/will never happen.
First, there is a big difference between arming your employees, who are under your control and direction and who you can train, and allowing your customers, over whom you have almost NO control, to be armed.
The thinking might be that customers in a bar while armed are riskier customers than those who are not armed because there is greater potential for injuries or deaths among armed people if they get into a conflict. By allowing people to carry on the premises when they might legally have prohibited it, the ambulance-chasers would argue that the owners/operators of the locus in quo created an extraordinary risk; or that selling armed people alcohol should be subjected to strict liability as a hazardous activity (like blasting, for instance) where the person conducting the activity is liable for injuries whether ort not he was negligent. I don't subscribe to that, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it attempted, at least in some jurisdictions, although it would be less likely in Virginia.

Wasn't directed toward you, but the restaurant.
Got to admit... I have no idea about the liquor aspect. I do electronics, computers and video production. Owned a Drag Racing team for awhile too. You want to talk about insurance liability. Good grief that stuff is expensive and sold 'by the race".

This story has hit a left wing web site:
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/1 ... ant-guns/#
The low to zero information people's comments are a sad testament to the state of our country in general.
Note: the comments are not "G" rated. As I tend to see on left leaning sites/comments name calling and mud slinging abounds.

Mud slinging does not come close to describe this.
"Gun owners are far more likely to binge drink, drive drunk, and engage in other risky behaviors than people who don’t own guns, according to a 2011 report in the medical journal Injury Prevention. Furthermore, arguments and fights that often involve drinking or a perceived insult lead to nearly half of all homicides and an estimated 40 percent of men and 30 percent of women who killed someone had been drinking at the time."
Where in the !!!! did they get this data. Just because I want to protect my family , I am a drunk that lives a risky lifestyle.

The Progressive/Communists had better be DAMNED glad we are a peaceful bunch with restraint, and respect for life!
If we behaved the way they accused us of behaving, I'm pretty sure there would be LESS Progressive/Commies around, because they have a tendency to MOUTH OFF to the wrong folks, thinking they're "edgy", when in fact they're rude, obnoxious azzhats.
It's one of the few things I do NOT miss about living in a Progressive/Communist neighborhood.

I would like to remind everyone that it was (and continues to) be good, free men with arms who fought for freedom and established this country... giving you a place to live freely and have your opinions without fear of being put in jail or killed because you disagree with someone.
Next, not everyone who has a gun is some crazed lunatic with a murderous desire. The truth is, non-gun owners are the minority in the US. There are over 270 million guns privately owned by more than 160 million Americans.
Of the overall murders in the US, per the DOJ and CDC, over 40% are committed with something other than a gun. Of the average of 35,000+ gun deaths in the US annually, almost half are suicides. According to the ATF, 60% of the remaining deaths are done by someone who illegally obtained a gun and only a small fraction (1.2%) are people who legally own gun and stopped a violent criminal during a crime. A near immeasurable amount of unjustifiable or inexcusable murders in the US take place by a person who legally owns a firearm.
As far as businesses not wanting people to bring gun in their buildings, I am completely fine with that, but I am not going to financially support a business that does not support me and my civil liberties. I am also not going to go in a place such as TKILTB while they have signs on the outside of the building advertising that there are unarmed people inside this little area and they have money or wouldn't be here. That's exactly what a "no gun" sign does. And its not the criminal raiding the restaurant, its the criminal ambushing victims in the parking lot either on the way in or the way out. Per the DOJ, that is the #1 time and place violent crimes such as robberies occur.
Lastly, mixing guns and alcohol is a bad idea. So is drinking and driving. Yet most people drive themselves to and from bars and restaurants to consume alcohol. And there are as many drunk driving deaths in the US as shooting death (including the suicides) but I never once hear anyone say "we need to ban all driving" or "we need to ban all cars"... so lets stop being hypocrites... shall we?

I posted this to their FB page 3 times. They deleted it twice. We'll see if it disappears again. I see several comments from others saying their pro-2A comments are getting deleted too.
I wonder if they are deleting the messages from the anti-2A people?

Hanging out in a corporate-run 'country bar' with a bunch of NOVA people...sounds like a lot of fun. Their stupid anti-gun policy just sealed the deal, I won't be spending any money there.
