Since the 5th is Labor day weekend, I like the 19th. On this short notice, I'm sure quite a few of us already have plans for Labor Day weekend. I prefer Fredericksburg/stormtrooper park, not only because it's closest to me, but a little more centrally located for all.

I grew up with a cop for a dad, so I'll feel like a kid again! :hysterical:

The only cop I care about showing up is the MD Stormtrooper. Doubt he'll show if we aren't by "his" bridge and in "his" park.

I'll go with whatever the group decides but would like to keep it a couple weeks away from our next Staunton trip. These long drives are killers for me and makes for an all day affair.

Absolutely. I have a couple of beautiful Berettas that need to be seen and appreciated.

I hadn't even considered Labor Day weekend. *grumble* You're right on that one.

Staunton is Sunday the 27th. I can't do the 12th since that's my kid's birthday. The poll is saying Fredericksburg on Saturday the 19th. I hope that doesn't jam you up too much. I'm going to go ahead and start looking for a venue in F'burg. I'm open to suggestions.

Stafford County Parks and Rec.:

You can view the parks in Stafford County and what is available in each. You can also reserve/rent shelters at the parks from this site. I think we should probably look at getting a shelter, just in case. Cost soean't seem to be too bad but Stafford residents pay 1/2 what nonresidents, any Stafford residents on here? I've been to Curtis Memorial Park and think it would work but there are several other parks also.

Doesn't provide a lot of details concerning each parks activities.

I'd like to find a place that has a pavilion and some grills on premises. Some stuff for kids to play on would be good too (slide, merry-go-round, etc).

Hmm...I might need to come up with a drawing of some sort for those who show up as well.

If you zoom in on that I think you'll find a small lake on the property. It's been 15 years since I've been there, I can't recall everything they had available. Probably has changed since then anyway. Might have to take a ride up there in the next few days.

Yep, 91 acre Lake Curtis owned by the VA DGIF adjoins to the park.

That looks like a great place. Also, I voted for the 19th since that seemed to be the more popular option and Stafford is a short drive for us. Would also be nice to wet a line under shade tree.
