I was thinking the same thing. So, we need to determine what specific message we want to convey. Then we can mail and fax.

Umm, I think we should be careful of the words we use. While I understand what the word "bomb" means in its usage here, I have to wonder how anyone else reading this forum might take it. It's bad enough that DHS, VSP, and Brady has assigned various names to people like us, all of which would indicate we could be hazardous to the government. It took Webb so long to answer me I was beginning to think I would find federal agents waiting on me at the house.

Maybe "information overload" would be a better term. It would have to be by fax, snail mail wouldn't hit soon enough. We need to send this wee, before the next vote. Warner needs to be included.

I just sent Congressman Boucher some fan mail on this subject as he supported the horror show I saw when I watched the bill pass the house on CSPAN. He used the EPA as an excuse to support the bill. The EPA is another agency needing to be nuetered.

The senate vote on Cap and Trade will be this week. If you haven't already done so NOW is the time to inundate their phones/fax/e-mail.

I've posted a draft letter at the top of this post and others have embellished. Feel free to use as you see fit.

The G-8 has agreed to a "cap on global temperatures." That's just going to make Cap and Trade worse and give the administration more reason to push it.

The SENATE has to approve treaties. Once again, the reason that the "founders" had them appointed by the States and not elected. Just one more take away of State power. We have enough conservative Senators to keep this from happening, I think the libs will be close though.

60 percent of the American people are against it. Our Congress is flipped upside down, but the electorate will not be in 2010.

Ratifying a treaty is alot easier than passing a law. Treaties are transmitted to the Senate by the president. The senate votes. If it passes then they send it back to the president for signature. Treaties require a 2/3 vote in the senate to pass. Laws require a majority of the quorum. Some laws are special case and require 2/3 vote to pass. Also, laws and treaties differ in how they are implemented and enforced. Treaties become law of the land if they are compatible with constitutional requirements (whatever that means).

Legislation to address climate change has potentially large repercussions for our economy, and as such, it deserves to be fully vetted and debated. Some of the current proposed mechanisms to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including cap and trade, suffer from inefficiency, potentially high consumer costs, and would require excessively large bureaucracies to administer. These concerns should be addressed prior to the enactment of cap and trade legislation.

The centerpiece of any climate policy must encourage the development of clean energy sources and carbon-mitigating technologies. We should explore mechanisms to combat global climate change that will incentivize factory owners, manufacturers, and consumers to become more energy efficient. We should also fund research and development for technologies that will enable clean use of this country’s vast fossil fuel resources.

Whatever climate policy we pursue, it should not undercut and displace American workers in the global marketplace.
