I am curious as to the policy of carrying in the various Veterans Clubs in the state. Obviously guns were once not permitted because there was alcohol served on the premises. Now however, I wonder what the policy is since food is served and, if you do not partake of alcohol....guess I'll have to check it out!

The sign at Paragon disappeared months ago. I never saw it come back, in fact the place it was located was even repaired and painted. As of last night, it is still not there.
Oh, its still there and now they have them posted in the Box Office Window and wherever tickets are sold!

Something like this would mean that if a business who sells groceries or a venue who sells
concert tickets to the general public (meaning its customers are not members or part of a
private club) that laws passed by the state (ie: CHP laws) shall not be infringed. But if a
private golf club who's customers are members and its services are not available to the
general public would have the option to draft policies banning guns.

And given the sample wording that I used, not having the word guns or firearms listed
wouldn't likely raise the dander of the socialists filing the general assembly. :)

Yeah! That sounds like a good idea to me.

I don't like it. Violates the sanctity of private property; which, whether you realize/believe it or not, is also one of the cornerstones of our republic (or at least it originally was and always has been so far). I still think your right to carry a weapon does not extend to doing so on my private property if I object just as your right to swing your fist ends just short of my nose. Think about it for a minute. What if I walked into your living room toting a pistol and claimed it was my right? How would you feel about that? Private property is just that - private, and somebody else's.

Check out what EW Jackson (Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor; who is also a pro-gun ex-Marine) observed about the tie-in between civil liberties and private property rights:

Is there a comprehensive list for firearms un-friendly/friendly places of business in Virginia posted somewhere that is up to date?

I CC, and wife and I wanted to go see Riddick but aren't going now due to the no-firearms policy of the theaters in my area (Fredericksburg/Glen Allen) and will just wait for it to come out on video. However, I had hopes of finding the list I remember seeing a while back here. The OP has a link, but it is no longer valid nor apparently maintained as I looked around their website thinking it was only moved.

+1

I would add that I don't like the state granted rights. I realize that currently that is the practical situation, but that doesn't mean it should be.

I live in Monterey VA, and just noticed a sign on the door the other day at First & Citizens Bank when I went in to cash a check that they no longer allow firearms in there. This sign must have just been put up within the past week or so (I am in the bank on a weekly basis and never noticed it before) Even worse; the sign also states that no hats, sunglasses or hooded sweatshirts are allowed to be worn within the bank as well...... This bank is a smaller company (think they only have about 5 - 6 branches in the western part of VA. I can understand the whole bank thing prohibiting firearms; but when it gets to the point of them telling me what I can't wear; now that is just going too far.

most banks now have the
"the sign also states that no hats, sunglasses or hooded sweatshirts are allowed to be worn within the bank as well...... "

sign, they want to make sure they get a good picture if you rob the place

I find it interesting that they think a bank robber will follow their dress code when making an large and unauthorized withdrawal. The triumph of emotion of logic.

I had a friend that worked at a bank. Apparently, tellers get antsy when they can't see someone's face.

I have always ignored the dress code signs. No one has kicked me out, yet.

I wish someone would open a PROGUN bank!

And by that, there is a sign that says "We ENCOURAGE armed patrons, and personnel into our establishment!"

And they give good discounts, and rates to people with VCDL/NRA/GOA/etc memberships, or better yet

A CREDIT UNION SET UP JUST FOR PROGUN GROUPS! :first:

You can add Dulles Towne Center to the list. It's on their Mall Code of Conduct at the main entrance, advising no firearms, whether concealed or not concealed, with or without a permit. There are, however, no "No Weapons/No Firearms" signs on any doors or windows.

Halfway there. PNC Bank is not a pro-gun activist, but they have no anti-gun signs posted. They have no problem with carriers.

A'ight! I appreciate that...

NOTICE! The restaurant "27" downtown Richmond has a sign that says "No FIrearms Allowed".

Saw that walking around, the bouncer/doorman/whatever gave me a dirty look when I said aloud "Well, They don't want my money because they restrict my rights, Fine by me."

Didn't read all 19 pages to see if this one was already posted. Just came across the article.

Bummed cause, I liked to go there to watch football when my game wasn't televised. Guess I'll have to find somewhere else....
