Jake,
They sold you an unlimited bowling deal and then threw you out for OC when they had no rule against it? I agree you handled it well, but (cantankerous old f@rt that I am) I think I would have asked for at least part of my money back.

I thought about that but decided it wasn't worth the fuss of it. I would have likely been told that I could continue bowling as long as I didn't have gun and with the additional presence of a LEO it wasn't worth making a big deal out of it.

Probably a good decision. Gray hair and wrinkles usually buys a little forebearance, and I'm used to trading on that. People take one look at me and prepare to be bitched at. You YOUNG whippersnappers just get rousted.

Jake, sounds like you handled it well. I like that you reminded them the firearm was for your defense against the lunatics, and that you remained calm and didn't get angry at the women. Good example for everyone, and you probably made some people think.

Every where else has lil' "Eichman's" for managers. Just say "I'm sorry, firearms aren't allowed." Give me a refund, and I'll go on my way. .
As far as I can tell, Cobb Cinemas in Leesburg doesn't have any restrictions either, but I've never tried OCing there, only CC.
Also, you can add the Costco in Leesburg to the no guns list. A couple of weekends ago I was OCing and went there picking up some stuff. Despite not having any signs at the front door, I was approached by an assistant manager asking me to leave it in the car next time. I explained that they didn't have any signs at the doors saying so, but he said he understood and just repeated his request. Since I have a carry permit I just covered it up and finished my business there.

Agreed. You handled that very well, Jake. Good on you.

Add the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester to the "maybe" list. Went there over the weekend to see the new Batman movie (not too bad BTW) and saw a sign in the ticket booth window proclaiming their inability to think logically. The sign says this exactly:
SECURITY NOTICE
Concealed Firearms are prohibited in this facility
I have a picture of the sign but have no place to upload it. While it doesn't prohibit firearms altogether, it does deny citizens the option to lawfully carry a firearm unadvertised. I wonder if someone will openly carry their handgun there any time soon. I'd love to know what theater management's reaction will be.

Paragon Village 12 has since added a "No Firearms Allowed" sign to the door on the far left. I refuse to go there unless I absolutely have to. Its pretty sad when they call the Cops on you. I had the Cops called on me once and missed 45 mins of the movie cause they would not let me get my ticket stub from my Wife.

I believe this is part of the broader campus policy regarding weapons in any buildings.

If not already on your list, add Lifetime Gym. Of course, gym lockers are not very secure, so I'm not sure how wise it would be to leave an essentially unsecured firearm there while working out. The glove box is probably the safer spot.

HEY! If you're in Williamsburg. Skip "Great Wolf Lodge"!
Small placard sign between the doors stating "No Firearms Allowed".
Didn't see it till I was leaving. Wouldn't have spent a dime in there if I had seen it.

add Dicks to the list.

Dick's Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, says it has removed all guns from its store nearest to Newtown, Connecticut, and is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles from its chains nationwide

The sign at Paragon disappeared months ago. I never saw it come back, in fact the place it was located was even repaired and painted. As of last night, it is still not there.

Hospitals seem to be particularly bad at this. INOVA Fair Oaks and INOVA Fairfax both have signs on the entrances. I didn't notice on at Prince William Hospital, but I wasn't looking. Something about the medical profession seems to made people prefer victims. Keeps them in business, I guess.

I get the hospital thing. You gotta think, they see the results of both criminals shooting innocents and the other way around. A gunshot is a gunshot at that point and regardless what the person did I'm sure they don't like seeing them... Though, in a dark way, that is job security.

Well, then, like the rest of us, I wouldn't trouble them with any of my business, EXCEPT: I might buy just one, take it to some small shop and have the most in-your-face pro-gun message I could devise put on it, and send it to the president of that company. Just for pure old-fashioned spite. Or maybe send him a competitor's notebook with a note that he missed an order for 1,000 gross of them.

I like the idea of the COMPETITORS product being sent to them with the "Oh well! You missed a 1000 gross order... that repeats.... monthly..."
