11B, heavy weapons out of Fredericksburg. Qualified M4, M9, and M240. "Qualified" on TOW ITAS, M2, and MK19.
DK, you should see the new TOW systems if you haven't.

Half my platoon is trying for SF. I would be joining them if my wife was in better favor (yeah, it's talk, I know), but *shrug* I've done a tour. Family comes first. I know I'll miss the guys and guns but certainly not the beaurocratic, political crap.

Hey another brother!!! Infantry - the Queen of Battle. I was leaving my last TOW unit when they were just bringing in the Bradleys with the dual mounted tubes. Sorry I missed out on that. I used the original version that started on the old gamma goat and cobra gunships.

I thought about that when I posted and suddenly realized that I am indeed approaching the top of the hill. Maybe I'll sit for a spell when I reach the top (can we do that?)

Those things were a blast to drive. I wonder if thats where they got the idea for the Hummer from.

Oi! You can keep your goats. I much prefer my HMMWV; which I still feel is more a hugely beefed up jeep than anything else. It would be interesting to see a TOW on one of those things.

They still don't have fire and forget TOWs, I guess that's what a Javelin is for, but the targeting system has improved very nicely. We started out with your ol' Vietnam era systems, and just last month got the new TOW ITAS. At about a million dollars a piece, we got eight.I guess that's why we can't get anything else nice.

Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire guided (TOW), they can't be fire and forget. If they were they'd be hellfire missles.

What's wrong with TOMs though?
Tube launched, Optically targeted, Move on to the next target/Missile tracked
Heck! They have gps guided mortars that go 7500 meters!

We could use some man portable Hellfires.
I love the TOW. I just don't love being exposed for upto 30 seconds with no real defense.

U.S. Navy, 8 years, 1978-1986
After Boot Camp and a 12 week "A" school: Duty as an OS or Operations Specialist aboard the USS Fresno, LST-1182 out of San Diego, CA. until my rotation took me to VA. Beach for shore duty at the Fleet Air Control Facility, VA. Capes. or FACSFAC, VA Capes, for duty as the assistant area coordinator. This position controlled the air space off of our east coast and coordinated it's usage between the Military and the FAA.
The Frez, as we called it was an amphibious ship who had a flat bottom for the purpose of literally beaching herself to off load tanks, trucks, Marines and other associated equipment. It was a gas.

Thanks to all that serve now or have served in the past.
I entered the USAF in September 73, on my 19 birthday and ended up getting a medical discharge 5 weeks through basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.
