Wal-mart is starting to carry firearms again, and they have the lowest price at $197.00 for the Ruger banded barrel standard.

Add another $50, and you can scope it as well.

I'm pretty sure the Wal-marts on the south side of Hampton Roads never stopped selling guns. I haven't seen a 10/22 at the one near me in the last few months, but they do have a nice Marlin 60.

The Dick's in Fair Lakes usually has a couple Rugers in stock. Don't know the price yet. I picked up a Ruger 10/22 with a Blackhawk stock and I love it! It's so much fun with the iron sights or a scope. Very tempted to get a can for it too.

As far as the Dulles Gun show, it is always crowded! I've bought before but you really have to search to find a deal. Most of the time, prices are not lowered from the shop store and you can usually do better online. You should make sure you do some research on local and online prices before you go to the gun show and 'think' something is a bargain.

All the vendors will have a laptop there to submit your check, but the wait time depends on how busy they are. In some cases, you might have to come back the next day to take it home so it just depends.

im going to a pawn store to today ill check out there prices and guns, if i dont get anything ill get a ruger 10/22 then

I went once last year, and I had to wait about 30 minutes for my background check. But when I talked to the dealer, that was more from the dealer having to enter the information from multiple buyers ahead of me. Most of the background checks were coming back quick that day. This was February I think last year.

However, if I was buying a .22 rimfire today I'd be looking at a Marlin 795. Lots of reports from Appleseeds saying the Marlin 795's run about half the price of a 10/22 (if you can catch them on sale) and are just as accurate if not more accurate.

There's a forum called rimfire central (never been there) and folks say its a good place to get info on .22 rifles/handguns.

thats what im saying, havent pulled the trigger on the ruger yet(no pun int.)

I had a Marlin 795, but I sold it and went back to a 60. For me, I prefer the tube feed. The 795 magazines are a pain to load.

I have a Marlin N25 bolt action and love it. Ruger 10/22's are high on the list as well.

hahah i might make a vid of it, i also might make a paracord sling. I have over 100ft of orange paracord.

I'm also a big 10/22 fan. I don't really see a big need for the bolt hold open feature on a rimfire that's safe to dry fire like the 10/22.

I bought a used Marlin 60 today. $69.00. I guess I did ok. I have shot it yet, but can't wait to get to the range.

As someone who never sees used Ruger 10-22s (new ones do not come in under the $150 discussion), I reccommend the Marlin 795. Cheap, light, super accurate and actually does cost less than $150. They survive Appleseed shoots.
