A couple of years ago I applied for my Pa. Nonresident license. People might think I'm crazy but I mailed the application on a Tuesday and my permit was in the mailbox on Friday. I didn't think the USPS moved that fast.

Who would have thought that there is that much of a difference from county to county?

I think about the only difference from county to county is some require fingerprints and some dont.

Yeah fingerprinting is a hit and miss situation,,, Here in Virginia Beach where there are a lot of people they don;t do it, Which surprised me ,, What also surprised me was the permit itself being what amounts to not much more than a typed out form. And they did take the full 45 days,, I went to the mailbox on #45 and it was there

I really wish they would issue a nice laminated version like our DL. It wouldnt be too difficult to do that I think.

I took my CHP to Staples for the same reason DK. I got it laminated for the amazingly low price of $1.25. It is not DL quality but it is better than just carrying around a bare piece of paper.

I had mine laminated at Office Depot for $1.50. It took them about 3 minutes. I wish the CHP were smaller, it doesn't fit my wallet very good.

I trimmed mine down so that it will fit right behind my DL in the "window pocket" in my wallet.

That's what i was told too, in Henrico. They told me it'd be ready in 30 days, but i haven't heard anything yet. I may stop by tomorrow on my lunch because a family friend applied for his in Henrico two weeks after me and already got his back.

Thanks, Bruce. I was thinking of having that done. There are the occasional times my wallet gets run through the washing machine. I wonder how that happens

Did he get it in the mail or he had to go get it..and the lady told me a month as well..I just assume 45 day because of the site..I'm in henrico as well.. Turmed my app in on the 23rd so I got a while to go..but on ur case ill wait the 30 days like the clerk said and if nothing then go..might be wasting ur lunch time if it hasn't been thirty days..and when I went there was a guy applying as well..

I do believe the 45 days is calendar days - not work days. If you dont have yours on day 46 call or visit your circuit court. They are required to issue you a temp if they dont meet the deadline. Make sure you still have your date stamped copy of the app you turned in. I dont know what the specifics on the temp are but I think I saw an earlier post from Rick that your dated app will serve as one.
Hang in there, Rico. It will come. Its the law and they have to comply.

He had to go get it. The 26th was 30 days so I'll just stop by before work today, since they open at 8 AM. If it's not ready, no sweat, just going to double check.
