The deal with Alaska is there is so much wilderness that if you go far enough away, you can pretty much do whatever you want.

If you can survive, that is.

(OK, so that's my personal take...)

I was wondering why Maryland was considered more free than Alaska myself. I checked out their evaluation and reasoning and found it somewhat wanting.

Alaska is considered less free because of their spending. I haven't done a dollar for dollar comparison of the two, but I would not be surprised to find MD spends a LOT more per capita.

As with any study, take this one with a grain of salt.

Massholes remark makes you look like one. Try eliminating the insults and the namecalling and, as a gun rights supporter, be more polite and respectful than the average joe....because you are a gun owner. Nothing wrong with promoting your politics and dissing others, but the namecalling needs to go.
This is not the high school playground.

I've got to wonder...has Dems been appointed as a moderator? Lemme look again...nope, his user name is not green. He must not be a moderator. Why does he feel the need to be a wannabe mod?

I, for one, am sick and tired of him playing moderator!

Here's a clue Dems, if Rick, or one of the actual moderators feels like things are getting out of hand, I am positive that they will do what is necessary. It's not up to you!

Dude its a regional thing. People from the South refer to northerners as Damn Yankees and other assorted names. Northerners refer to the people of the South as rebels, country bumpkins, and other assorted names. When you get on a gun forum in the SOUTH you have to expect it. The cultural differences between the largely urban North and the agrarian South are not going to go away. So, my point is this, GET USED TO IT ALREADY.

P.S. I am a Southerner so it was hard for me to be so non biased typing this.

dems4guns - you sure do know how to stir up a $h!t storm around here, don't you. Have you ever stopped to think that your "Holier than thou" attitude may be causing you problems around here? I'd have to guess that if you just back off, stop trying to make people sensitive to your needs and just stick to the topics, you'd likely get along much better here.

oh, and to clarify a bit... One of my personal pet peeves, which I believe to be echoed by many members of this forum is "political correctness". Many of us believe that it's ruining our country, and by coming in here and spouting off about how we should all be more sensitive...well...you're not going to get anywhere, except that you are likely to stir up more angst. And if that's all you're going to do here, then please do us all a favor and go somewhere else to do it.

On the other hand - if you want to stay and have intelligent discussions about gun related issues, then please do.

Gee...zussss....

I lived in Massachusetts from 2nd grade through my first year of marriage. We called each other MASSholes!

VBshooter worked at a nuke plant in MASSACHUSETTS! He, like myself... f*** heard the term while he was there!

Does this forum have a killfile? Because there are certain people who I choose to ignore due to their constant attempts at stirring the pot.

Visit a user's member page and click "Add foe (ignore user)". Here's dems4guns' member page:

I dont get offended easily...no sense in it...I do find great sport in watching others take offense though...taking great offense at what and how people say things IMO is a sure sign you need to check to see which bus you are riding on...

Yeah, me too. Its better here.

I found Vermont interesting (strong on personal freedom low on economic freedom).

Edit: I'm a Lawn Guylander (it makes fun of our accents but I should be offended it seems) by birth. We call them Massholes too.

We also called Floridians FloriDUHians with an emphasis on the DUH...do I need to explain why? :hysterical:

Wow. Really. Tell me more. Never been there but I know you get any more gun friendly than that.

What didn't you like about VT???

Ah, I shoulda been clearer, like Pumbaa I'm from NY which is what I was referring to, I was just mentioned VT as a sidenote. Sorry.

I've visited VT but never lived there...I know its socialist but the gold standard of gun laws (i.e. almost none) is noteworthy.

Also they have a really good dairy industry and I remember the state was very pretty during the summer....wouldn't want to live there in the winter, which I believe runs from September to June there.

Virginia>New York hands down....except for pizza....finding good pizza here is damned near impossible. But I got BBQ in trade so it's cool.

Wow, that sucks. No offense but I wouldn't give a squirt of piss for New York. I've never been there but I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle it..... except for the food. If I was in the city I'm sure that I would like being able to go to an Italian neighborhood and get no joke Italian food. Same for Greek. Other than that I think the place would drive me bananas. Just a hunch though being as I've never been there.
