Congrats on getting it apart! Sounds like it was a tough cookie.

That gun turned out pretty nicely. I might have missed it, but what did it end up costing you?

M1, according to the info I got off shotgunworld.com your A5 was manufactured in 1936. If you want to do some more research go to shotgunworld.com and then to the " I love my Browning" section.
Why wouldn't you hold up the targets for me? It's a 9mm.

As was from Green Tops = $300.

I bought an extended magazine tube w/spring and a ramline stock/fore end set for it. I also bought a new action spring for it and installed it. Seems like that was about $12 (it needed it as the old spring - might even be original - was some what shorter than the new one - no surprise if it has been in the gun since 1936  . I bought a new screw set for it as well but did not put any of them in. The original ones are all numbered to match the serial number (the action screws and trigger housing screws anyway.) If my youngest son decides he wants to go home this fall and so some squirrel hunting I'll take the Auto 5 with me and leave my Ithaca here at the house.

I've shot it with and without the extended mag. tube on it and it seems to work fine either way (another John Browning success story).

Very cool and a good deal also!
