It's only unheard of if your memory doesn't reach as far back as President Bush's administration. Otherwise you may remember that he grabbed/massaged Angela Merkel.

I don't know how Lend-Lease was ultimately calculated, but the UK did not accumulate war debt to the US Treasury as such - they were on a strictly cash-and-carry basis until LL began, and that carried through to the end of the war. The debt they amassed, and paid off in 2006, began at the end of the war - for rebuilding.

First World War debt payments for all the Allies were halted for a year by Hoover (Hoover moratorium), and with the Depression there was a tacit agreement not to speak of it again. The only country that appears to have paid off WWI in full is Finland. I suspect the debts from that war have been de facto written off by all concerned, though the governments involved say they have not.

Oh, I see...if "Wookie broad" is referring to Michelle Obama...then that's pretty damn cold, no matter what we may think of the Obama's policies. Not cool, folks.

Might as well invite 50 cent and ice T.

Why dient she jes bow to her like her manchild does to every OTHER leader of foreign countries?

Surely you heard of this happening?
Wow, folks...just...wow....

I cannot believe I'm seeing crap like this here. To refer to someone's wife by such names is just...well, I thought you guys were more gentlemanly that this. I know good and well what I'd want to do if anyone were to dare to refer to, say, Young (whom I've had the honor of meeting) by such language, and I can only imagine what DK himself would have in mind (I'd be right there with you, DK). I don't agree with the Obamas' policies either, but I would NEVER stoop to...what I'm seeing here.

Being in the public eye, she ,like anyone else is fair game, Additionally, by sticking her nose into peoples lives with nonsense like telling people how to eat, just makes the bullseye bigger,She puts it out so there so it gets used, besides Mrs, Nit Wit just doesn't sound as good Chooie

Not excluding Sharon as she is indeed on the beautiful side...and you're right. We shoulnt paint the FWOUS bad because she has poor choice in a mate...on the other hand, he is president...good bad or indifferent.

I can't believe that this sort of crap is being tolerated--and by one of the board's moderators, too, actually participating in it and egging it on. Guys, this is not cool.

Ok, no reason to get upset. She is in the public eye and has insinuated herself into politics and is pressing her personal agenda upon the American people.

So:

Those upset that she is being picked upon - please try not to be upset.
Those doing the picking - please try not to pick.

I personally will refrain from further jabs.

The nice thing about this country is that we ALL have the freedom of speach and the right to express our opinions about anything that we wish to or has that changed since Obama got into office.

While we live in a country that has free speech wherein generally one can say what you want. I think Cowboy T was referring to this board. Freedom of speech does not exist on this board, nor should it. In fact, the FAQs are pretty clear that you can be censored over what you say, and how you say it.

But it seems also clear that there is an exception and there's free rein to call our President and First Lady any name. I'm going to guess that had anyone called our former First Lady, Mrs. Bush such disparaging names they would have been warned and ultimately censored.

Our First Lady is doing what every First Lady has done, i.e. working in an area of interest. Mrs. Obama has 2, childhood obesity and military families. Why childhood obesity? Because it's reaching epidemic proportions. We are becoming a nation with millions of fat out of shape kids, for which we will all pay dearly in long term health care and other costs. When the Department of Defense is worried about it, we all should be worried.

And what is so offensive about what Mrs. Obama is doing, and saying that earns the ire of a few? Goodness! She's saying our kids ought to eat healthier, balanced meals, eat in moderation. She's not running around trying to ban whole food classes. WowI That's awful! The nerve of her, saying what every dietitian, pediatrician, teacher, chef, coach, and millions of Americans are also saying.

Education and women's health were Mrs. Bush's interests and yes she did speak out on both. In fact she's still speaking out: She is lobbying Congress along with Melinda Gates to not cut foreign aid since in her words: It would hurt the U.S. economy, national security, and the nation’s moral standing. She's right too.

If however the manly men here feel the need for some reason to refer to our First Lady in the most odious terms, that's on them. However they do nothing to detract from the fact that the vast majority of American see the First Lady as an intelligent, tough, gracious, and most attractive woman and mother. Nothing anyone says here can change that.

I never dreamed I'd read this thread, much less post to it. Go figure.

I personally feel like when Michelle Obama made that statement about being proud of America "for the first time in her life", she bought and paid for whatever gets thrown her way as a public figure and full participant in public discourse. There have been plenty of other times when her comments have been distinctly partisan and political. So I think she is therefore not entitled to cower behind the screen of the poor put-upon wife of a dimwit (although she is certainly entitled to that status). If you throw, you gotta catch half the time.

And by the way, if you want to hear some truly vicious commentary on the First Wookie, sneak up on about any two women discussing her fashion sense and general command of the social graces. It will make my own observation that diet advice might not ought to come from somebody who's two axe handles broad across the arse seem positively respectful.

You two libs are really playing the put upon, Oh Lawdy act a little gratuitously me thinks.

There are a great many reasons for me personally to take issue with the BROAD. One of which is displayed prominently on my wife's vehicle (referenced by Dormin). She claims America is MEAN. She is a partisan douche nozzle. The reasons, retorts, and yes name calling that you take issue with are no less valid just because you don't approve.

One of the main purposes of this website is for plain amusement. Clearly, a majority here find such repartee to fit that role. Get over it and yourselves.
