That was a different time, under a different regime.
We have the power - we, the People, choose not to execute it. We're too busy watching "reality" TV and content that the government is going to take care of us. Peaceable assembly can work in the USA if we choose to make it work. Espousing violent overthrow will not work.
The way we do "peaceable assembly" now does not work...at least it doesnt accomplish the intended purpose...we need to tweak how its done to make them bend to the will of the people...

I don't want to overthrow in any way.
I want to abandon, abolish or otherwise evict. Re-institution of the ordinances of Secession (read: balkanization) is the only path to amicable resolution.

Didn't know I would stir up a hornets nest with the OP. But, I'm glad it's easy because that means people are alert to the dangers. Stang 'em hornets.
Today I wrote to BOTH of "our" Senators asking that they OPPOSE S. 510, the so-called "Food Safety Modernization Act".. I also pointed out that I will VOTE in 2 years (Webb) and 4 years (that other guy).
If I can only do a little; it's better than nuthin.
WE can take care of half the problem in two years.
